Might I suggest this co*ktail that has, in my opinion, the most enticement, as well as having the most amount of ingredients not available here in Korea.
Basil 8
In a cocktail shaker, muddle 4 of the basil leaves with 4 of the white grapes and the simple syrup. Add ice and the vodka, lime juice and bitters and shake well. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass and stir in the ginger ale. Garnish with the remaining 2 basil leaves and 2 grapes.
I guess you could change soju for vodka and go from there...
I'm drinking whiskey and Cherry Coke right now. |
Crap yingwen is low class, I'm middle class and Hapki is on the cusp of upper class, trying to break out of middle. |
Did you miss this bit? |
lol cherrey.
I figured all that crap about basil leaves and bitters meant he was trying to bust into the upper class. If he didn't mention the cherry coke I would've said upper class for sure.
van, not as old as I thought? Or you changing with the times? Ha. |

Soju goes up and down the social classes in Korea, for good and bad.
I've cheer'sed my glass of soju to homeless men in the subway, as well as CEO's of companies and Dept. Heads more than I can count. Same goes for 12, 17, 18+ year whiskey (whisky)..
As for reference to future "class" upbringings, please go here.

| I am just finishing off my first large bottle of Cass. I am going to walk to the fridge to grab another one as soon as I am done typing this. It is a daily routine for me .... |

Soju is your enemy if you do more than 1 shot, but I agree, it's not a poor mans drink despite being the cheapest lowest quality corporate produced product in the world. In Korea, soju is the status quo and no, I don't include myself in this status quo for the sake of my health. In Korea, everyone tries soju at least once. Only 1 occasional blue moon shot to make the boss feel comfortable. This I hate about doing business in Asia. Crappy chemical booze that's downright bad for your heart. Even the women, but they usually refrain unlike the thirsty men. Life is too good to waste on that unless you don't know any better and feel happy with it.
I'm having a few Hoeggarden beers tonight and they taste right. It's 1st time I've had anything in 3 weeks so it hits the spot quite well. Pace yourselves. Brace yourselves. To get sidewaysed on this special 4th of July weekend for all you fellow Americans out there in K-land. Q2 is complete. It's half time. |

| Over the evening with my dinner companion I had some soju shots, soju and (s)Hite, (s)Hite only, then a strawberry smoothie and now I'm on the waters as I want to hit the bike hard tomorrow as drinking alcohol after 10 gives me a filthy hangover these days. Being over 30 sucks. |

| when in Rome, do as the Romans....I drink soju. It's cheap, it gets to the point. I know how to handle it. It's available everywhere, did I mention that it's cheap and gets to the point quickly. |
