Last week I taught adjectives to my 2nd graders and had them make "crazy people" by cutting out pictures of people from magazines. They could use a woman's body with a man's head, switch eyes and other body parts, etc. Then they had to write 3 sentences describing the picture: She has blue hair. She has three legs. She has long arms. They loved it and had a great time!
Next week is the last time I teach them and I want to do another fun activity with them. Any suggestions? |

Of course. Same thing. Only this time, have them hand their ... collage? on to the person next to them. Then they add something. So this until the pictures go all the way around the room and the original student has Angelina Jolie with Artie Lange's body sitting in Starbucks drinking Hite, etc.
Then the three sentences.
Incidentally, where are you getting these old magazines from? I can't find old copies of anything for love or money out here. |

Ah...good idea!
Last winter camp I had the kids make posters and they had to bring in some magazines...so they were left over from that. If you want magazines just ask your co-teachers for their old magazines or have students being them in. Be careful, though! One student brought in his Dad's, uh, "men's magazine!" |

Yeesh, well.. I guess they can be disposed of properly in the baskets under my sock drawer in my closet. The only thing I get at work is Korea Herald (some very decent color shots there, but for ESL, they kinda suck... that's not what the paper is for though, so no disrespect). I'll get my hausfrau co-teachers to bring in their magazines, and get them to give the kids stickers to bring in theirs. |
