My contract ends Aug 31 and I JUST got the official word that I can use my remaining 2-wk vacation and leave early. I have been getting some incredibly expensive quotes for 1-way fares to the US west coast! Been told because of the "high season," most airlines don't offer deals on 1-way fares.. In most cases they are about 1/3 MORE than a return fare.. OK so has anyone in my situation found a decent fare? Of course the POE will reimburse my ticket, but most of the quotes I've gotten are OVER the limit (1,300,000 won)... Can someone steer me somewhere? I've inquired at the usual places so far... Thanks in advance!!

I don't understand how a one-way can be more expensive than a return, do you mean more than 50% of a return fare? If a return is cheaper just get that!

my buddy flew home to the states from australia two months ago.
one way was 1500USD, 870USD return
figure that one out.

he bought a return and figured if he could make some cash while home he'd go back to aus later in the year. otherwise just not use the return ticket.

www.nextour.co.kr

my korean isn't the best, but i think i found one way flights on japan airlines, eva airlines, american airlines or air china all for under 600k one way plus tax to LAX on the 19th august (picked day at random)
same for san francisco with singapore air included.
similar for vancouver minus singapore air and AA
couldn't see an option for seattle. i may have missed it, or you may have to call them about it.

try looking on www.evaair.com, KRW 651,600 includes taxes one way.

what are your "usual places"?
because they're not very good

I'm not sure why but it's relatively common for OW's to be more expensive than RT's. I just purchased a RT ticket from Incheon to Chicago for 1050$ and the OW was about $200 more. Not sure why it works like that, sometimes...
