These films represent two of the worst films I have seen in recent memory. I went into them merely hoping to kill time, but could not even sit through to the end.
Saw the first one drunk last year and thought it wasn't too bad. Just a sort of brainless time waster. But the second one is amazingly bad. Probably the worst movie I've ever seen. I mean, the robots cried real tears. One of them had a gold tooth and talked like he was from the ghetto. One of the few movies I had to walk out on.

You do realize that Transformers is based on A TOY LINE FOR KIDS, right?

Just because it's based on a toy line doesn't absolve it from not making a damn bit of sense.

This guys FAQ pretty much nails it on the head
http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/06/bonus_robs_transformers_2_faqs.php

Part of the reason I enjoyed the movie is I am not native speaker, and I didn't expect to catch every line in the movie. There are flawless scripts which people can watch 10 times and the stories still make sense, but those are rare ( usually they are adapted from books).

Failing in telling a good story has been a common fault of most big movies... But any stories would look pale when they have to be fit into those huge huge scenes....

For example, in a high budget James Bond movie, people for sure would expect to see beauties and good cars and the most powerful weapons,etc...in order to organize all those factors in just one movie, James Bond has to take a jetplane and use the most advanced wireless communication equiptment even he is just about to drop by a grocery store for a bottle of water.

James Bond buying water is rediculous, Thus we always entrust bigger missons than buying water to James Bond, as well as embed countless related characters and clues in the movie (in order NOT to make the story too thin). But rarely, big stories makes good sense, its easy to understand.

Transformers were looking for engery source, its a simple plot, but in order to make robots fight and show different scenes in the movie( China, Egypt), they have to make up such a rediculous story, seeking a possessed university boy, with US millitary involved, etc etc.

Sweet mother of god, what did they do to my childhood. Can they be so vile? Is that even legal? I think I should be seeking legal retribution for emotional damage after watching that filth. I am moved, truely moved, by how far we have regressed in this society. I'd call Hasbero a bunch of pigs but the poor pigs!

Seriously, they sat down, wrote that movie, read through it, put it on screen and with a clear understanding they were pandering sexist tripe to children, not only contributing to gender inequality, but, let's face it, they're upping the anti. And I did not hear about the mass suicide of the corporate owners of hasbero, so I can only assume they are ok with themselves as human beings. Crossmr called some bad tv show an abortion- well this was an out and out fetus fight at the clinic with the doctors and nurses merrily flinging abortions at each other every which way. Those tools have placenta on their faces.

My English class wanted to see this film for some reason, so we saw this yesterday. Worst film I've seen in a long time. Glad I didn't pay for it......

This film actually made Terminator look good, which I found incredibally stupid also.

I'm usually can find some redeeming qualities in a movie, but I was hard pressed with these two. Looking forward to seeing Up when it comes here.

I just have to throw my two cents in on this. I saw "Revenge..." last weekend, and I don't think I have ever hated a movie this much.
I'm not a film snob, I can enjoy a mindless movie as much as an artistic one, but there was nothing, I mean NOTHING redeeming about this pile of garbage.
When I wasn't being offended by childish jokes (Devastor's *beep* anyone?), I was being offended by the racist characters that were being thrown at me.
If that wasn't bad enough, there were points where I couldn't follow the damned story. Why did Lebouf have to go and get that key when the "allspark" was powerful enough to bring back Megatron? Couldn't it do the same for Optimus Prime too? Why the hell did Lebouf go to Transformer's heaven? I gave up trying to follow the plot about 10 minutes in.
That doesn't even begin to touch the idiocy that is this movie. Michael Bay product placed his own previously crappy movie franchise at one point ("Bad Boys 2"). I wish I was articulate enough to express how much I hated this flick.
I've never been a Michael Bay fan. The man is nothing more than a hack, and this movie cemented it for me. I will never see anything that he has any association with again. Not that it matters much, as this movie made a crapload of money, and the next sequel he manages to shite out will do the same.
How I HATED this movie! I want the two hours of my life I wasted on this pile of garbage back. I want my money back, and I want Michael Bay to return the peice of my childhood that he stole back.

Transformers was racist and sexist. No wonder it got a 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Honestly, how could people enjoy this?

+1

I haven't seen it but if it's anywhere near like the first one, I'll skip it. I thought the racism, racist sexism, and sexism was bad in the first one, but I've read and heard it's even more blatant in this installment. Michael Bay is truly a moron. He should go back to what he does best: Playboy and Great White music videos.

Oh, I am not done with you, Transformers 2. Unless Michael Bay invents a time machine and apologizes directly to my 6 year old self, I will never be done. I have been browsing reviews to wile away the time, and I am particularly fond of this quote:

“Indeed, 'Revenge of the Fallen' might be compared to torture, not in the colloquial sense of its being painful to watch, but rather insofar as it reduces both subject and spectator to the status of objects.”

Poetry.
