If you have or will travel for an extended period of time after Korea... what do you do with all your luggage?! And what about laptop computers?
We'd like to backpack for 3-4 months through China, Tibet, Nepal, and India before heading home. This must be common.. but we are kind of clueless about what to do with all of our things. |

I went traveling for a few months in SE Asia directly after Korea. I ended up mailing everything I didnt need on my trip home. And yes, that included my laptop. I just wrapped it in bubble wrap and clothes. I shipped everything home air mail through the Korean mail service and payed something like 100,000 won in total. That was for one medium-sized box and one smaller one.
Everything arrived without damage and my laptop was fine. However maybe I was just lucky. Not really sure what else you can do, though. |

You can ship everything home by airmail, but you can also ship it home via surface mail, and your stuff will arrive home in two months. Surface mail is a lot cheaper, and if you are not in a rush to get it home, then why not. I don't recommend sending your laptop through surface mail, unless you want to take the chance of seeing it in a few pieces.
You can also keep it with friends here in Korea, and have them mail your belongings to your next destination. |

We were lucky enough to meet up with family who took my laptop home for me. However we kept my husband's laptop with us whilst travelling around India for 4 months. It was a small one, bought with travelling in mind, but we saw a lot of people travelling with laptops of all sizes. Other than that everything went surface mail, including a load of ceramics, with no damage. |
