I am traveling to Taiwan for a week and I would like to rent a scooter. I'm from the US and I don't currently have an international drivers license. How can I get an international drivers license in Seoul?

Thanks!

Do you have a Korean licence? If not, skip the rest of this paragraph. If you have, are you either on an F-series visa (edit- not all F series, but F2 & F5 are ok) or have you been living in Korea for 3 years or more? If no to both, see the next paragraph. If yes to either, then you just go to the same licence office that you got your Korean licence from to get an IDP (International Driving Permit - what many mistakenly refer to as an international licence).

If you don't have a Korean licence then you can't get an IDP in Korea. You need to get it from your home country. Likewise if you have a Korean licence but don't meet the critieria of F visa or 3 years residence.

Contact AAA. You fill out the forms online and send a passport style photo to their office in Florida. www.aaa.com
