Hello, as is required for every English teacher I will be required to get a health check and drug test within the first week of my arrival.
SMOE says they require an "HIV test and a drug test." Does this mean that they will not conduct tests that involve STD's such as herpes?
I am 99% sure I don't have an STD and I tend to be a worrier (so my friends tell me).
I do not know if it is appropriate to post on here, but I will try. I have never engaged in sex, but have received oral (I'm a guy) unprotected three times. I believe I do not have any symptoms, but as I have said before I'm kind of on the paranoid side.
Is it still possible that I contracted an STD? Does SMOE require STD tests or just HIV? If someone can PM me about this or reply onto this board, I would be very thankful. I just want a peace of mind before I get there |

If your sexual history is as you say it is, your GOLDEN brother. I wouldn't worry about a thing. Are you sure you typed your post correctly? |

But they were women who I barely knew so I don't know if THEY had an STD or not...
Should I still be worried?
Some say that the health check only consists of HIV, swine, and drugs? No STD checks? |

yeah im pretty sure all they do is check for AIDs.. I'm pretty sure you're over reacting, just settle down. You should be fine, however, honestly I did hear of one person who came to Korea and failed the AIDs test. She found out that she had AIDs and had to pay for her flight home... haha brutallllllll |

I'm assuming this isn't a flame....
Good news is that HIV has a window period of 1-3 months (time to seroconversion), so if any of this risque behaviour was in that time frame you are likely golden.
Now I don't want to get too graphic, but you know that you can get HIV from other ways other then frank sexual intercourse right?
First off you can get it through sharing needles (ie IV drug use), you could also get it through blood transfusions...so have you had any of those recently?
Finally if there is any chance that there may have been contact with "blood" during your instances of felatio then that's another way.
Though studies have found that HIV virus can be found in small amounts in saliva, there hasn't been any proof yet that it can be transmitted that way, so who knows you could be the first?

The public school check also includes syphilis (that's not for the visa tho) |

Do you mean "unprotected anal receptive sex," the kind that is high risk for contracting HIV, or are you telling us you are a virgin? |

This is a question for doctors or google. But you are in an extremely low risk category. Unless lady was bleeding profusely from her gums and you had a bunch of open sores on your johnson you can sleep easy. Besides of which, symptoms of HIV generally show up within the first two weeks. Are you experiencing strange, flu like symptoms per chance? If so, don't walk out in cloudy weather, you will almost definitely be the guy who gets struck by lighting twice.
Do yourself a favor- buy flavored condoms. Your peace of mind could use a thin barrier of latex. |
