How do I get an after-school position, in addition to my regular job with SMOE, at a public school?

When do I tell someone, and who do I tell, that I am interested in working these extra hours?

What type of overtime pay should I expect to be paid per hour, and should I get this amount written in my original SMOE contract?


I feel like there should be information on this somewhere, but I can't find it because my search function isn't working for some reason. Any help?

It seems that you are just starting with SMOE in late August, is that right? If so, you may want to wait until you meet your school, since any after school work you do will most likely be arranged by them.

I networked it like this. At the end of the semester many teachers will transfer schools. I had a decent relationship with a couple of the teachers leaving and mentioned to them that I'd be interested in after school programs at their new school. Sure enough the calls came in.
If there is some way to have assistance from the POE with this I am unaware of it. I get some extra dough and it's all legal.
The money will vary from school to school. Don't let anyone change your contract. Sounds like a bad idea.

Yes, I am starting in late August, so if it's okay to wait to set it up I'm happy to do that, and I'll try to put the word out to other teachers that I'm looking. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't miss out on my chance if I didn't line it up ahead of time. Thanks for your help^^

Sometimes district work or other schools who need another teacher will call you up...you can start a program at your school if your principal wishes it.

District work can be very lucrative.
