I have internet through my officetel building. It is included in my rent and as far as I know, I have no option of getting an external ISP (not that I would really want to, the inhouse internet is very well priced!)

Anyway, everything works pretty well but I have noticed that my ping in online games is significantly higher than my friends who also live in Korea.

To Korean servers, I ping 5-15 which is to be expected. However, to Japanese/Chinese servers, I ping almost 200 whereas my friends ping 40-60. I ping around 250 to Australian servers while others in Korea ping 150-160. US servers simply aren't playable.

Does anyone else have the same problem? What might be causing it? Thanks.

PS. I don't want to deal with this through my school as I know they'd lose respect for me if they knew I played a lot of computer games!

I get between 100 and 120 to west coast US servers. It gives you a slight disadvantage in FPS games but it's still playable. I ping 40-60 to Japan. So yeah there is something wrong with your apartments connection. It's prolly cheap for a reason, being split between the whole apartment without any good routing. The files sharers in your building are prolly screwing up your latency. Just play in a pc bang if you want a good connection.
