I am essentially a Kyopo and I wanted to use a family member's National Citizen's number so I can sign up for things online. How much trouble could I get in if I got caught? But, most importantly, is it possible that they could find out? |

I am a member of several Korean websites, using a K-friends ID number.
I thinbk its not really a big deal so long as you post stuff responsibly. |

Its fine. I sometimes use my parents' number because for whatever reason, mine doesn't work on some sites. |

Most korean children (in fact every Korean child I know) uses their Parents National ID number to play online-games...
I use my Korean friends ID number for online purchases etc - but its fine - because he knows that I use it and gave me permission to use it. |

How much trouble? Since that was the question, it's a lot of trouble. But nobody knows anyone that's been caught right. It'd be a big fine and possible jail time... max. But people do it all the time and nothing happens. Just when you sign up for stuff part of the warning is in Korean saying to not do what you're doing and you'll be fined and stuff if you do. |

My Korean friend let me use their id number for my phone account so I can get a phone bill each month instead of a foreigner pre-pay phone plan. It's in my friend's name but sent to my address. The phone company knows about it too. It's totally fine.
But if you do something bad, whosever id your using will get blamed so be good!! |

technically the fine for using another person's KSSN is like 10 million won. If you sign up for any sites, its usually in the warning during account creation. in terms of will it ever come up? No. Not likely unless you're doing something bad with it (like posting libelous messages). |
