I'm pretty sure America has been an embarassment since it's inception.

Theres lots of embarassing moments that didn't require the help of foreigners in Korea (which based on the number of americans who actually know where Korea is on a map, couldn't have had too much of a detrimental effect)

1. Canada burning the white house down in 1812.
1.a. America losing a war to Canada period
2. The 1950's (all I have to say on that one is people lookin like Grease)
3. Ronald Reagan the amazing sleeping president
4. George Bush
5. George Bush somehow getting re-elected

And that's just off the top of my head.
So yeah, what's the phrase, america had dirt on it's face to begin with??

Which George Bush?

Also, wasn't Toronto torched during the War of 1812 as well?

And um...when did America lose a war to Canada? Was that back in 2112(Oh yes, I made a Rush reference)?

re: the 1950s, maybe you should watch (EDIT: or read) "The Outsiders" rather than "Grease," fancy boy.

Yes, and then they followed it up with the rousing piece of crap known as gears of war 2.

Positive negated

Wow cute little america defenders, And actually I talk about this all the time, and quite often provide links to the song "The war of 1812" to americans.

BTW i'm from NY, and like any good american, of which there are few, I realize the country is based on dissent, something seemingly lost on most people these days

I know I always write down links on Post-It Notes and give them to people when I'm arguing politics with them face-to-face.

You've never had a conversation with a person in a room with a computer before?

*yawn* More like there's a growing trend in people finding it cool and edgy to degrade their own country. You should keep the second part of your name; it suits you.

*yawn* this is my cute trendy way of saying i'm above this yet I continue to post.

And I was anti-american before it became trendy in the bush era. And don't act like we're all "american" to the core. When people complain Koreans are nationalistic, at least they have 5000 years of history to fall back on. Most americans have families who immigrated about 100 years ago, unless they are extra WASPy. So really I'm not degrading my country unless I start insulting my ethnic origin. I'm just insulting where I was born

And how clever of you to notice my name has the word failure in it.

-And as a sidenote, although I do hold quite a bit of disdain for america, this post was actually meant as a response to another and to be a bit lighthearted, hence references to rather humorous things, like the white house being burned down and ronald reagan falling alseep. But as usual when anyone insults america everyone goes into some sort of defensive hissy fit. Honestly, if america is the greatest country on earth why do so many people feel so insecure as to have to jump down the throat of anyone who criticizes it.
