(1) The Filthy Teacher. The one who has a path from his door to his bed the rest is littered with rubbish and a putrid reek. They've been trying to get rid of him for years but the job is five minutes from the DMZ and they can't find a replacement. He spends most of his free time drinking cheap white bottles of makoli and eating tiny sausage weiners in the front of the local mini mart.He works as a bank teller at an English Village.

(2) The Sleep deprived teacher. He lives in an Offictel above a Hof and Singing room. He averages two-three hours sleep a night mostly in the early morning due to the noise near his living quarters. He works at a public school where he is expected to teach all the lessons alone. The School is located five minutes from a dog farm. Where dogs are raised for food.

(3) The Feminist drunk teacher, She majored in Sculpture Instalation at The Ontario College of Art and Design. Now she is bitter because no one is interested in her text based Postmodernist Conceptual art. So she downs four bottles of soju a night an then tries her luck at picking up a Korean lesbian girl in Hondae.

(4) The Communist- The guy who came here after working in China. He attends all the Anti-American demonstrations. He speaks fluent Chinese and has his political artwork on a myspace site.

(5) The guy who never got over his University sweatheart leaving him.
He really hates white girls. He has not yet met a nice Korean lady that meets his standards but has no problem with the bargirls in Pattaya

I met number 3! She used to get drunk and shout "I have condoms" in a crowded bar.

I'd actually like to meet #2 and #3.
#4's probably not too bad either, and #1... heh, a few of my best buds here.

#2 sounds a lot like me. Except I live in an apartment building. And replace "dog" with "cow".

Yes, number 2 sounds very familiar. There is a streetlight right outside of my apartment, it has eastern exposure, no blinds, and I can't find my sleep mask to save my life. The school is in the middle of a vegetable farm and there are cows, dogs, and college students in just about every direction.

I've met a few number 1s.

Korea's desperation to learn English and make money teaching it mean more than a few lost souls find solace in the tender embrace of Korea's cheap soju and cheap cigarettes.

One guy showed up drunk at work the first day then didn't turn up the second day or answer his phone so we went over to find out if he was OK, found him on the floor in the middle of butts and bottles. He had been there for 3 days and filled the place. Once awake he kept insisting he thought it was water.

I have to agree on the Filthy English Teacher. Some FTs apartments are absolutely putrid and sloppy. I'll take the reek of the KimChi refrigerator over their mildewy, BO and stale beer flat any day. The packrat mentality causes their apartment to be overflowing with crap and resembling a dragon's cave.

I fit in to the #1 type. I have a BO that shames Nazi gaschambers. I tell my students "if you're good then I don't have to come near you to check your work." Besides my school is in the midst of fertilizer and industrial waste with obligatory high voltage wire. Foreign smell stinks no matter what, I suppose.

Can't a person be physically clean and still cluttered and messy?

Err, because I am. I am big on my personal appearance. However, what with my husband being male and my being very well-loved by my mother, neither of us developed a cleaning gene. Dishes are washed regularly and we don't leave organic trash out, but I am known to have an empty water glass on the table for a couple days and clothes strewn about wherever I felt the urge to undress in the heat.

I don't know why I am justifying. Just trying to defend the cluttered and disorganized.

Clutter is fine if it can be cleaned but you are just too busy. I'll leave clothes lying about too, but everything can be cleaned within 5-10 min. in the event of company. I live by the 5-10 min. rule. But some FTs seem to be turning their apt. into that Dragon's Lair/Survival Bunker. Bad lighting a lot of the time too. Typically this happens to male FTs.

Smell is the big one for me. Bad smell with no ventilation and too much old stuff taking up the air=intense urge to leave their place ASAP.

Hmm... well the kitchen has it's own set of problems. 10 minutes? Doubtful :/

I'm still in the US and I've been living in the same apartment throughout my college career (5 years) so I am a pretty messy Melly. I only recently realized that people wipe down their livingroom walls. (I didn't think they could get dirty without anyone touching them.) I was very spoiled :/

Truthfully, I think I can do okay with eliminating pointless clutter. But that micro cleaning, well, I think either my husband will need to take care of it or I will have to pay someone to do it.

PS. I also do not know how to iron anything other than a flat piece of cloth for embroidering or sewing purposes.

The Canadian. Assumes that people everywhere are interested in hockey.

The Yank. Just replace hockey with NFL.

The French Canadian. Need I say more.

The Yank who wishes he was a Canadian. Hates Bush, doesn't even have the gonads to stand up for his country.

The Canadian who wishes he was a Yank. Rightwing death beast who is ashamed of having socialised medicine. Yawn.
