It's one of the only reasons I put up with a lot of the 우리 나라 nonsense. How fast would most of us be out of here if Korean women weren't freely available?
Regarding western girls, all the occidental ladies I know here either have a western boyfriend or have poisonous, toxic FWB arrangements with western colleagues or military types. (Actually, I know one Irish girl with a Korean boyfriend.) But my western gal friends aren't bitter; they don't care that "their" (apparently geekly and ugly) western men are enjoying hot fluid swap action with Choson beauties.

YES! If you don't care, I don't. In fact, I'm happy you guys are having so much fun. If there's one thing I'm jealous about it's that the rain makes my hair frizzy and awful. Yep, that's pretty much it. Well that, and an LBH is still an LBH regardless of gender. |

Funny how just about every comment I've read here relates to looks.
Being a guy, I can sit back and laugh at the guys here gloating how beautiful their Korean girlfriend are. Guys are pretty damn shallow.
Have you ever noticed how much conversation goes on between W-boy/K-gal couples? not much from what I've seen. Some can't even communicate at all, it's quite amusing, which I think goes to show many guys are just wanting a pretty Asian girl to show off.
Guys strut around with their princess like they're holding a Gucci handbag, showing off their "prize" while the girls are beaming with delight that they're so cool and international. I think they deserve each other.
Whenever there is a thread is about this topic, it always goes on for pages and pages as it attracts insecure and average looking guys trying to justify their shallowness.
Maybe some couples have a "connection" but I think in most cases it's just a little ego boosting, "look at me! my girlfriend is pretty!" but take a look around, seeing some of the quality of the guys here and the beauty of the women they are with just goes to show many K-gals aren't too picky at all.
Before you flame me, I'd like to add I've dated several attractive K-gals, I've found them all very dull as people, and I'd take an average Western girl any time over some wannabe K-princess. |

I envy those waygook guys with the pretty k-girls that can't communicate. Thats heaven right there. My wife won't shut the hell up most of the time. |

Now this is hate speech by any definition, saying that Korean men "knock" out their women. Obviously FMS has some serious hatred issues with Korean men.

I can't say absolutely if they're Korean-Other, but I can tell after about 15 minutes of conversation if they've studied/lived overseas or not. Not just accent, but expression choices.
Why so dubious? My speech teacher in college could tell what region and sometimes what state each student was from. Except me, cause I'm a military brat and actually lived west coast, east coast and flyover country.
If you've been a teacher for more than a couple months, you should start to be able to pick up on the differences. Establish a baseline, notice deviations, ask questions. If you can't start learning WHY they speak the way they do, how can you help them improve? |

Well over the course of my life I've dated lots of western women as well and found most of them to be equally as dull, not to mention self absorbed, bitchy, etc.........
I guess between a cute dull woman and an ugly one I'd have to go with the cute one as she's at least got something to offfer. Oh I'm sooooo shallow. |

1. I didn't do it in a national forum
2. I didn't claim they came here just to sleep with korean men
I said they are jealous because they are commenting on western men's dating habits in a negative manner. Otherwise they wouldn't care, especially not care enough to broadcast the comments nationally.
I simply pointed out 2 likely reasons for their jealously. They're either jealous of their happiness, or they want to date them and feel like they can't compete. You'd have to been an idiot to think the average western girl remotely tries to compete with korean girls. I've seen so many girls in various train stations and maybe 1 out of 1000 put any effort into their appearance. Its anecdotal evidence buts its pretty easy for you to check by yourself. If it wasn't true, I would expect to see at least some mix over time, but it hasn't presented itself yet. |

1. There is a time and a place for everything. That time and that place point to a certain feeling.
2. I'm more than happy to acknowledge it, I gave two reasons why they might say that. jealousy because they want to date them or jealousy because someone else is happy and they're not.
My point was they are jealous about something. What's yours? |

Well, first of all, most guys all over the world want someone they consider good-looking. They are not concerned about her being able to have deep conversations with him anymore than most women except that. That's normal for most people. I prefer someone to speak my language in a decent manner.
You are overlooking the fact that many people who have Korean girlfriends speak some Korean, many of them have average looking Korean girls. It's a myth that they all have gorgeous Korean girlfriends.
They are normal looking guys with normal looking Korean girls. They just happen in many cases prefer to date Korean women. I am referring to those who have long-term relationships with Korean women.
There is a tendency for some Western women to attack Western men in Korea and for Western men to do the same. I don't really want to get into that. I've never dated a Korean woman, and I didn't really intend before coming here. Many of them are very nice and beautiful.
As far as that show, they are repeating the stereotype that the male teachers came here for the women, which is generally not true.
Men generally don't care what kind of women out there. I haven't met many guys who came to Korea specifically for the women, and if a woman has an average looking guy for a boyfriend who cares?
Does it really matter?
Also, I find that show to be in bad taste. It seems to parade Western women for Korean males. Of course, we have plenty of shows in bad taste in the West, but it reminds of say having a show filled with women from Japan, the Phillipines, China, and Vietnam talking about how great American culture is and being there on TV for eye candy for American males. I just can't watch such a show. Sure, there are pretty women on the show. It just makes me think of sexism and closed-mindedness.
The good point to it is it shows Westerners speaking Korean. That's one good side to it. |
