Are any of you teachers afraid that something might happen? I'll be coming (hopefully) this August and was just wondering what the word was on the street about this whole North/South thing.

The word on the street is that watermelons are 4k each and those guys driving the knife selling trucks know how to use what they are selling.

And the clouds are not dark today.

Seriously nothing has changed. Don't worry. NK will always be there and we all take a slight risk living here.

Not flaming you but just... this kind of thread comes up weekly.

I'd rather get shelled by NK than shot by my girl on the side who found it just a little too easy to acquire a handgun...

Awesome response, phoneboothface.
Perhaps it should be a Sticky, or at least make the FAQ.

Truer words have never been typed.

The McNair murder isn't the first time the Nashville Metro police have had to respond to a call about a crazy girlfriend. I had to call them on one of mine in 2003. In contrast, I've never had to put up with any such bullshit from the Norks.

Don't be quite so fast on the trigger there, RJ. Back in about '96 there were two armed Nork infiltrators on the mountain between Taejon and Puyo (now Daejon and Buyo). For three days and nights--until the infiltrators were shot and killed--I had to stop to have my scooter searched on the way into and out of the parking lot at work. Nearly got my head shot off when I went into my office and turned on the light--it woke up Mr. Lee who was sleeping in my office with his rifle across his lap.

The Norks have stopped sending armed infiltrators down (since before the summit in 2000) but they could start up again anytime.

But I agree with the other posters: the heavy stuff isn't likely to start flying around and you're probably safer from violence here in SK than in most of our home countries.
