Well its rained a lot lately. A good test of the quality of construction of the building you live in.
We live in a so called "premier" apartment building.
Here's my report.
1. Water leaked (a lot of it) into the elevator shaft, which then proceeded to leak into the actual elevator. This caused electrical shorts so we had no functioning elevator. Not fun on the 11th floor.
2. Intercom system shorted, despite the intercom panel being undercover. No one can buzz and get into the building.
3. Windows leaked, so there was water on the floor in the communal areas.
4. Balcony leaked, so floor was wet.
5. Underground car park. There is no water proof liner so water leaked from the street level car park through the ceiling of the basement carpark, and again through the ceiling of the lower level (b2) car park. Had to wade through 2 inches of water to get to the car.

As a result of all the water seeping into the concrete all the paint is blistering. and some of the render is crumbling. Can't be good for the rebar either.

How did your building cope?

If my building ever attempted to leak rainwater on me, I'd stab it to death.

Doesn't sound good at all. I live in a decent apartment and no leaks.

Did anyone see the news last night? I didn't, but the wife told me that there was an apartment building in Jamsil that had a floor of the car park collapse due to the heavy rain yesterday. They had no electricity or water.

My ceiling used to drip water (onto the foot of my bed..awesome) even when it wasn't raining. Started about a month before I left. It would drip on me while I sat typing at the computer, like some kind of officetel/goshitel water torture. I woke up the morning of my flight and the bed and half the floor was soaked. Best apartment ever.

Isn't a water leak what caused the Sampoong building collapse?

My apartment leaks. It's not just me either. I asked a co-worker that lives on a different side of the apartment and she told me her room leaked as well. On top of that, where I work leaks also. It's awesome because the building is brand new. You got to love how they build things things here.

It's raining cats and dogs in my part of town right now, and the building has been duly warned not to leak, or it will suffer greatly under the knife. Very Happy

As much water comes in my window when it's open as when it's closed when it rains.. I learned the hard way not to put boxes anywhere on that side of the apartment

Are you referring to the Dept. Store...if so...that was due to being skimpy on the size and number of beams...as well as them loading up the roof with aircons and then moving them to where they would make the building the most structurally unsound pretty much...

I remember the subway stations..alot of the line 2 ones anyhow being shut down and flooded due to heavy rains years back...maybe a wall caved in due to construction next to the subway also at Dongdaemun or Namdaemun the same year?...rain is no joke here I have seen the hair melt of a middle aged man!

Not one drop that I've seen - building is about 4 years old.
