Brits are out to start a fight and have no manners whatsoever......
Haven't you heard of the soccer travellers who want to start World Cup fights????
They also think they still rule the world....
I am referring to the travelling brits not the local ones with manner.... |

The South Koreans were not on the list. (See the complete list here. Hat Tip to the ROK Drop blog.) Neither were the Chinese though, interestingly, the Thais were. (Thais ranked 16th out of 27.) |

I'd say France is also the worst place to travel if you are of Asian heritage. My family was treated like complete $hit everywhere we went. |

Whilst I largely agree and it's not a way I'd ever want to travel, I'd also say that it's understandable how Koreans (and Japanese too, to whom the same criticism often applies) want to cram so much into a short time. For a start, they tend not to have as much time off work to go there as many equivalent westerners, especially when you also factor in that's it's effectively 2 days of actual travelling time needed to get to Europe. Also, many feel that this is likely to be their only chance to visit Italy/France wherever and that it's best to make the most of it. |

Well, sure, I also understand they don't get as much chance to travel as we do.......but I would suspect their style of touring wouldn't change much if they did have more time off. Koreans place a value on getting things done quickly. If they feel there is a next place to go to, they'll go there. I don't think they see any point in lingering somewhere.
Also, they way many Koreans tour Europe and elsewhere in large groups with a tour guide is how they like it. Many Koreans think if they don't have a tour guide and the security of a group that they would surely perish in that wild, strange and dangerous place known as, 'not-Korea'. |

I do agree with one thing in the article, though - if I lived in France, I probably wouldn't have the desire to travel outside, either.... unless I was rich and fortunate enough to be able to exhaust ALL the wonderful places within the country in a relatively short time and I have the energy, time and money left to explore further afield.
But even then, I would likely take an obligatory holiday yearly in Provence. |

I like the Brits a lot, funny people but I have seemed to notice they are more willing to fight than other nationalities I have known. I dunno if its just my experiences or if their is actually something to that. |

I avoid any Brit who appears to be over the age of 40 or so. Something about that generation of people. I've run into enough annoying ones traveling, but I even had the joy of working with one in Japan. All he ever talked about was prostitution and his opinions on homosexuality (in front of another teacher who was gay) and he never, ever wore deodorant.
It's unfair, but I think I will carry this aversion with me even as I age.
I've never had any problems with most Europeans. The Germans are great when they aren't sex tourists, the French seem nice enough (if a bit cheap). Italians, though, seem to have learned too much from us Americans. LOUD, always, always snapping pictures. I remember them being sure to take pictures of some of the more grisly items in the Hiroshima Peace Museum - if the Japanese aren't snapping photos, maybe it's a good cue for you not to either.
Koreans just gave me something to laugh at when I saw them in Boracay, with their long-sleeved couple sweatshirts on the beach, walking up and down the sand, bored out of their minds. A group of them got REALLY EXCITED when they heard me use the phrase "excuse me" to get an aloof waiter's attention. PERFECT, a replacement for "yogiyoh!" |

PARIS (Reuters Life) French tourists are the worst in the world, coming across as bad at foreign languages, tight-fisted and arrogant, according to a survey of 4,500 hotel owners across the world.
They finish in last place in the survey carried out for internet travel agency Expedia by polling company TNS Infratest, which said French holidaymakers don't speak local languages and are seen as impolite.
"It's mainly the fact that they speak little or no English when they're abroad, and they don't speak much of the local language," Expedia Marketing Director Timothee de Roux told radio station France Info.
"The French don't go abroad very much. We're lucky enough to have a country which is magnificent in terms of its landscape and culture," he said, adding that 90 per cent of French people did their traveling at home.
"So when they're on holiday they can be a bit stressed, they're not used to things, and this can lead them to be demanding in a way which could be seen as a certain arrogance."
French tourists are also accused of generally spending less than other nationalities when abroad.
De Roux said the French, not accustomed to leaving large tips at home where a service charge is automatically levied on restaurant bills, can seem "tight-fisted" compared with other nationalities.
The Japanese ranked top of the Best Tourist survey, with the British and the Germans judged the best of the Europeans.
But French tourists received some consolation for their poor performance, finishing third after the Italians and British for dress sense while on holiday.

Brits are just that a good laugh. They are the salt of the earth, very down to earth, a good laugh and very good friends/loyal. I have met many and yea they like to fight because they fight for justice, and other things.
They are a free nation of people, more free than many countries in this world. If you see a brit fighting in korea 99% its because he or she is pissed at the rude racist folk.
God save the Queen, go the brits! |

It's hardly surprising that you went to a Greek island and it was overun by moronic Brits, anyone could have told you it would be!
I do think you'd have to go a fair way to out-do the Brits in terms of bad tourists. Drinking and fighting seem to be priorities. My mate went to Turkey a few years ago and on the plane to Turkey a gang of druk lads started singing "Id rather be a p*ki than a Turk" and were saying how dirty they were. ON THEIR WAY TO TURKEY!! Beyond stupid.
Having said that it does go without saying that not ALL Brits are like that, just the vast majority.
Thinking about it now I dont think Ive ever met a French person on holiday. Ive been to France though and while a lot of them come across as rude a lot of them are actually pretty nice. Ive had a few French students and theyve all been lovely. I could lay it down about the best and worst nationalities of 'exchange students' but that's probably for a different topic.
Brazilians need to be mentioned in this though I think, they are brilliant. Polite, friendly and just wanna have a good time. None of this judgemental crap that you get with other nationalities.
A special mention has to go to Americans for their 'our country is so much better than any other country' policy but that might just be from my time in Korea |

They have fun, but they mean no harm.

Been travelling in Asia and Europe for a year now and this is spot on. Koreans do not go abroad to travel (in the traditional sense of the word) but to sight see.
I stayed in a Korean guesthouse in Bern, Switzerland. You would think you were in Korea or something. I was served 현미 녹차 on arrival, the place smelt of our favourite fermented vegetable and every last appliance was Korean with 한글 instructions.
However, given their linguistic limitations and, lets be honest, cultural ones I would still rather be in their company than Israelis.
But it depends where you go in the world: go to Bali and Australians have a bad rep, go to the south of Spain and Brits have a bad rep. Americans have an appaling reputation generally. The thing is only we know about the 우리나라, 대한민국, the 한 etc: most just see them as cute little asians with their cameras and phones and think they are Japanese haha.
I think I have observed on numerous occasions Koreans being addressed with 'konichiwa' and 'sayanora' it pisses the hell out of them.

Koreans are pretty good tourists in the sense that they don't really bother the locals, they pretty much just stick together, walk around taking pictures, and get back on the bus.
They're pretty bad at actually experiencing foreign cultures and especially cuisines, though. I once went to a cafe run by a Korean couple where they proudly displayed photo albums of themselves traveling to Vietnam, Thailand, the Netherlands, Germany... and at least half the pictures were of them cooking or eating kimchi jigae in those countries. |

I've read spurious claims tales on this site of raucous Koreans overseas, but all the Koreans I've encountered on my travels have been well behaved. They do seem reluctant to sample the host culture but I guess 5,000+ years of cultural isolation will do that to you.
I don't think Koreans are alone in these crimes against tourism. I know plenty of people back in the UK who go to Europe and take tea bags, biscuits and baked beans etc. They stay in resorts with a 1,000 other Brits eating sausage and chips and drinking themselves into oblivion. |
