Just found this nice little news article. What's odd (aside from the story) is the article quotes the Korea Times, yet I couldn't find it on the KT site. Perhaps I wasn't smart enough to find it but I don't think so.
It does serve to remind us to keep our apartments clean, check any hidden areas, and mostly look after our keys!
I don't think the curiosity defense will work well for him.
CHEONGJU, South Korea, July 8 (UPI) -- A South Korean man says he secretly installed a spy camera in a female teacher's bedroom "out of curiosity," police say.
The man, identified only as Oh, told police he put the camera in the closet of the teacher's Cheongju home "out of curiosity about a woman's private life," The Korea Times reported Wednesday.
The newspaper said the man was a salaried worker at a cosmetics company who admitted to stealing a key to the woman's house as she was visiting the company to test its new product.
Police say the teacher discovered the camera as she was cleaning up her room. The Times said Oh was nabbed after police examined the sales records of nearby camera equipment stores.

Hard to believe but with the internet sex revolution going on and the frequency of these Korean pervs getting their hands on this type of equipment, I'd say having your boss or Korean teacher find a private investigator to come in and debug your home would be a smart thing to do. |

Ah, how cute, he was just curious. Guys, let's not jump to conclusions until we have all the facts. Maybe he was working on a dissertation regarding the behavior of women unobserved.
Actually, that's not a bad idea |

I don't think the "curiosity" excuse is valid after 8th grade (age 13).
Delayed puberty? |

Thanks tzechuk, but I still can't get it to work.., Guess I need to stop using Internet Explorer.
I agree the guy will probably barely get punished, which makes me wonder.....
what if a male foreign teacher were to install a camera in a Korean womans apartment or ladies bathroom? I don't think we would find a shortage of coverage on that! I'm just trying to imagine the consequences for the curious expat. |

Well the curious expat/foreigner would get what he deserves. In all seriousness, this is a terrible thing for anyone to do to any human being. I agree that it would be a shame for this man to not at least suffer some jail time. Could a private lawsuit be lucrative? |

Oh, I totally agree about the severity of it. I was just pointing out the possible double standard here with the law.
It's just as bad for a Korean to do this as anyone else, but we know the punishment won't be the same. |
