|
|
Been seeing a lot of pension threads these days, so I decided to check my pension online. It turns out that my boss hasn't paid barely anything. She paid it the first 3 months, then the next 3 were 0. Then there was a 180,000, then 3 months 0. The pension site says I am missing 1,000,000 in payments.
The thing that sucks is that she's been subtracting my monthly 4.5 percent (90,000) but the pension site says 0 won was put in. So she must be pocketing it.
What are my options? I plan to confront her tomorrow and I want to get my game plan together. I already printed a copy of my monthly pension payments she owes and got my paystubs together that my deductions were made.
This is for a hagwon by the way (just incase you didn't already know)
Thanks in advance. |

The most important point is to get your money.
Second: you are still working for this company (hogwon)
Yes, they tried to screw you and you caught it. Good for you!
In addition you have the paperwork to back it up. (Good Job)
My advice:
Reminder her she is late on her pension payments. Tell her you checked on-line and the payments were short. Insist that these payments must be resolved within a short time frame. ( 3- days max.)
Don't go into ballistic mode and don't mention this to any other staff.
Give her plausible denial. "It must be an accounting mistake."
If she rejects your assertion; show her the receipts. Give her some time to make an excuse. You will get your money and she can save face.
Good Luck |

According to your story, your boss is not running a typical scam of trying to cheat you by not registering you for pension. So, don't panic. It sounds more like a case of being unable to pay; IOW cash flow trouble.
The pension office is aware of you, so just mention to your boss that you are aware that your pension payments are late. Your boss will have to pay late fees as well to the pension office. The pesnsion office should help as well through their normal collection process. You might be able to pressure them to do more. |

The first thing that comes to mind is greedy korean dog.
I dont recomend saying any of that until you get your cash. But it would feel great. Please, please record that if you do and post.
Best regards H10. |

thats because pension is usually submitted quarterly (every three months)
it's only from the korean language version of the pension site.
http://www.npc.or.kr/jsppage/main.jsp
you have to pay a small fee and register for some sort of id to view your pension online - about 5000 won, if i recall.
i find its easier just to call. they wont give you many details other than your current balance, but after you have that you can make pretty safe assumptions if its correct or not and proceed from there. |

more importantly - check that your health insurance is being paid - its more money they could be stealing and youre screwed if you get hurt and dont have it...
for all government deductions, ask what they have registered as your monthly income with the government offices. Now it is becoming very common that your employer will under report your income by about 50% or more - which means your deductions will cover his portion of the contribution on the under reported amount as well as your own. It makes it looks like hes honest and legal in the eyes of the government, but he's still cheating them and stealing from you.
You will also lose money in this scheme because your pension will be half of what its supposed to be when you cash out when you leave korea as well as paying your bosses contributions to the various government offices.
Get these stuff sorted early or you will have to pay the differences to the government offices before they will go after your boss to cover his share of your actual contribution rate. You boss will despise you for it, but unless you dont care that he's cheating, it's worth the money.
one year of pension on 2.2 mil is 2.376 million won. You could take that amount home (if youre from the right countries, anyway) or you could take 1 080 000 if you boss claimed your monthly salary was 1 mil and submitted your deductions from your pay. Meanwhile, thats 100% your contribution and nothing from him - it's supposed to 9% of your actual income with 50/50 contributions from you and him.
the other alternatives are that you could take nothing home because youre not from the right country, your boss never even registered you with pension and you never caught him in time or you had no idea you could have your pension refunded when you left korea.
dont get me started on tax settlement money that almost nobody here ever sees because their employers almost invariably pocket it since their FT's dont even know anything about tax settlement refunds............... |
