What's a good video to show for movie week? What's an overall good video lesson?
Last year I made an actual lesson for the week after exams, and the students *would not* follow along. They just begged for a movie and got all depressed when I didn't have one.
The other teachers told me that it's okay to show a film, so that's what I'm doing.
Thanks. |

I dunno the age group, but Groundhog Day's pretty good. Since they see the same scene over and over it's a bit easy for them to understand.
And I found this neat lesson online:

If it's kids just go with whatever pixar/dreamworks/etc have churned out with their eyes closed recently. |

My high school students seem to enjoy "Ratatouille." Well, that is until the principle and vp got wind of the fact that I was showing a movie. They didn't seem that think it was very efficient. So now, we're back to the students and coteachers arriving to class 10-15 minutes late, not listening, doing about half their assignments, and then leaving class 5 minutes early. I mentioned to one coteacher that I think the class efficiency has really improved. She flashed a nervous smile and said that the principle has a lot of power. |

Monsters Inc and Wall-E have both been huge successes in my classes. School of Rock would be good too. |

I've been showing School of Rock and Camp Rock
Oldtactics - were you able to get subtitles for Monsters Inc? The ones I found on the Gom website don't match up with video |

At my middle school I showed episodes of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and turned on the English subtitles to help them.
The kids LOVED the snot out of those episodes, and several of them ended up buying their own copies of the dvds in Yongsan. |

I taught very basic level ESL class (high school students) in Canada, and I showed them Mr. Bean's Holiday. There is basically no conversation in the movie, but I accompanied it with a question sheet. I would tell them when the question was coming up and after the movie was done, we worked on making their one-word answers into complete sentences.
If your students speak better English, then I don't know if this is helpful. |
