Anyone know where there's a good spot to fish?
Near Seoul, or anywhere else in the country for that matter.
What can you catch?
Do you need a license?

Thanks

I've seen old men angling and using nets in yangjaechon (the stream in Gangnam near dogok-station and others). I saw carp in there. Not sure if they had permits or if this is OK to do.

There's fishing all over the place, for carp or bass. Have a look at http://www.anglerstown.com/e_kyungki.htm for a start. Also, the river behind Camp Humphreys (the Asan-cheon) has lots of bass.

You can catch Largemouth Bass in the Han River using lures, plastic worms, etc. Fishing off the bottom with baits, you can catch a type of carp that the Koreans seem to like as well as a small Tarpon like fish. Also, if you fish with nightcrawlers off the bottom, you can catch just about anything in the river including Bass. I throw my catch back in the river since I'm not sure if it is safe to eat.

There are some cleaner water lakes around, but I can't remember exactly where they are off hand.

Fishing in the Han is actually illegal. I live near the river and there are signs warning people to not do it. Of course, people still do anyway.

michi gnome, these threads should help. I went out to Gangwando a couple of weeks ago the Inje area, Jindong valley. Beautiful spot, no luck though. Very wily trout.

thanks for all the helpful info!

not sure i want to eat anything out of the Han, so i'd probably throw those back. don't really want to start growing a 3rd arm out of my back or anything...

Emeliu: thanks for the compliment. somebody actually figured out my name, haha
