okay, so today I had the chest and triceps workout. This thread got me going, so....

Chest
Incline Press - 142lbs (4 sets of 10)
Dumbbell Press - 55lbs on each arm (4 sets of 12)
Dumbbell Butterflies - 18lbs on each arm(4 sets of 15)

Triceps
Pull-downs - 39lbs (4 sets of 15)
Pull-downs with rope - 17lbs (4 sets of 10 - supersetted with the pull-downs)
Skull Crushers - 45lbs (4 sets of 12)
Hammer Curls - 17lbs (4 sets of 10)

That's it. It was an average day today as I usually get in 4 sets of chest.

Several reasons. I also agree with Capt. Corea.

    Aesthetics
The feeling of power as you workout
The feeling of strength after your workout
The satisfaction of reaching your goal and setting another.
    etc.etc.etc.

I don't like the thin look. I like my look now.

Personally, my head's always been disproportionately large - I was just always trying to even it out.

ditto.. but I can add some others.. more Korea specific.

The amount of Koreans that snap their necks when you walk by, more males (unfortunately, you hear them going.. wow) but the females do some looking too. (I realize this may not be admiration, just curiosity, seeing something/someone different)

"Props" from my highschool students who appreciate brawn.

the sheer enjoyment of my guttural laughter when I read some waygook on Dave's whining about some adjosshi "assaulting" him, either verbally or flat out physically.

I don't have these issues.

Ditto. There is something about size that Koreans, and many others, just don't want to mess with. It's been 5 years and I have had 1 slight altercation with a guy.

In this case, size does matter.

Exactly.

Also, it's fun for the kids to throw them up in the air and then catch them. Or to do one arm bicep curls with a 85 pound 5th grader. I even have this one fat kid, maybe 150 pounds and I pick him up by his arm pits and lift him straight up into the air.

The kids mug me begging me to do that to them.

Today we are going swimming and I'm going to be launching kids left and right. It's a heck of a shoulder work out as well.

It feels great to be strong Wink

I'm a small guy (picture Dustin Hoffman in Papillon) and don't have those issues. Not in ten + years.
Maybe it's to do with attitude.
I also read once that someone who is bigger keeps getting hassled because he figures people want to test their strength so choose one of the bigger of the bunch in which to 'try out.'

Too big is not good. I'm way out of proportion and even though I'm pretty soft now, I look like a freak. I'm 69 inches tall, and my chest is about 53 inches around. When I'm wearing my boonie and a green island print shirt, my son thinks it's time to play on the island.
So, I do lots and lot's of light reps on chest and back, and am working on bulking up my arms and peaking out my delts.

oh...anyone know where I can buy a butt? Can't grow the damn thing to save my life....

Kind of off topic but I want to call bs on the whole 'spot reduction impossible' cr$p.

So I grew a bit of a mid section over the past year. spent the past month busting my arse off hiking up and down Namsan, power walking it two or three times a night etc to rid myself of the spare tyre.

Nada. Still there.

Last night I swear to god I did 5 sets of 20 crunches and even drank a litre of beer afterwards and watched a movie. Oh and I ate a mozerrella stick, a small edam and some gouda too whilst watching the movie.

This morning I have a perfectly flat stomach and my trousers are hanging too low beacuse they're so roomy now.

I'm not bs'ing, this is a true story.

I agree, definitely. But, I am not too big. I'll take a picture and post it up. You'll see.
