It has came to my attention that the Filipino/Filipina students at Yeungjin college, who assist teachers at the English Village as part of their scholarship/learning programme, are being told to sign a letter which states that they have taught at an elementary school. This paper will be passed to the police and immigration.
This came about after a Filipino was approached by an undercover police officer who explained that he wanted English lessons. The Filipino agreed to meet the man, and he was then taken and questioned and asked to reveal information about all of the Filipinos working there. Is there anything that can be done? |

Uh, more details please? What does signing the letter entail? That they've been working outside of their contract and should be deported? |

It states that they have been working at an elementary school. It doesn't name the school, and it doesn't specifically state that they should be deported. |

They have been working at an elementary school, instead of the English Village? Are the EV students mostly elementary school children? Sorry, I don't get it. What is the crime? |

No, they have been working at the English Village. EV students are mostly elementary/middle school students. The crime is that they are being accused of teaching, which they are not allowed to do. |

Filipino students can teach English with proper permission. I'm very confused by your description of this situation. Have the Filipinos asked for your help? |

Yes. We want to see if the person who was fooled by the police can get representation/advice, and what the purpose of the form that they are being advised to fill in is. |

Latest development is that the English Village will apparently spend 3mil per Filipino/a worker, but the Philippines students/workers will still have to sign a paper saying that they taught. It's difficult to know what is going on. |
