Hey, I just wanted to say that tokki and I have talked via pm, and I totally accept his apology. Like I said in my post, I should grow a thicker skin if I want to hang around Dave's anyway.

And Jade Redux's post: "Confessions of a former fattie" resurfaced along the way, and it made me smile, as I know I'm not alone, even in this community.

So, Topic.

Jaebae, you're right about the questions being easy enough - they rarely have a question that stumps both teams, and when they do, the hosts stand there and feed you clues like, "It's a colour.....rhymes with '-ink'....starts with a 'p'..." and so on until someone buzzes in. They edit all of that out, of course, to make us look really clever.

The trick, I've found, is to ring in before the other team, but not so early that you guess an answer that actually turns out to be part of the question, which I have (shamefully) done on several questions.

The program needs to be renamed 'Dave's ESL Contenders'.

Of course, it should be team cutter that you will be facing rather than the soon to be deposed champions team garu. Wink

It's all about Monty & Cutter.......

Don't think so. I think those who hang around Dave's need to realize that sitting behind a monitor and a network cable doesn't remove them from the fact that they belong to a community (Tokki's right: "Sometimes we foget that this thread isnt just located in some vaccuum.") And as civil, decent members of a community, we all have a responsibility to behave with dignity towards each other. The number of active posters on this site is less than 1000 - that's about the same population as a small town. This board is like a small town in a lot of ways.

Those who bash and troll from the sidelines (I'm not referring to Tokki here - rather, see the "Fat Canadians" thread for a better example) need to be viewed as the punks they are. They're every bit as clever and brave as the teenagers who tip over the gravestones in the small towns on Saturday nights. They deliberately hurt others for their giggles.

The mods should ensure that this site always remains a cordial and safe environment for all to post. A "thick skin" shouldn't ever be a prerequisite. It's what makes this board different from KoreanESL and Spectrum.

Good luck in the game-

In general I agree with what Lemon just said, but.....

......we still have to be careful that things don't get over sanitised, or the forum will be more like a large monastry than a small town.

That said, intentional trolling is the worst thing about any message board, and those that persist in doing it should be warned by the mods and then kicked off the island.

I have a question in relation to Lord of the Rings for Team Cutter:

Q: What is the name of the King of Rohans trusted advisor? Laughing
