I remember seeing Unos the last time I was at Coex. I love good pizza, and I don't get many opportunities to eat any here in Korea. I don't get into Seoul very often, so I'm wondering if it's worth putting on my itinerary for when I'm there next weekend.
For those of you who've tried it, how was the pizza?

Thanks

Uno's at COEX is better than Mister Pizza and the other Korean pizza joints. But, you'll be forking out a hefty sum (probably near 40,000won for 2 people), the pizza is smaller than what you'll get at Uno's in the US, and it doesn't taste exactly the same. In the land of the not quite right it can be expected that anything imported will be a bit off. In short, it's good, you should go; but, don't go out of your way for it.

The Unos there is typical of the Unos in the States. Deep dish pizza, appetizers. If you liked it in the States, you'll like it here.

I liked it, but I don't think it's worth making a special trip.

Kind of on the same topic, but is there ANY place in Seoul with American-style pizza?

I remember about one year into my stay last time, I had just had enough of Korean pizza and was craving Dominoes, American Pizza Hut, Papa John's (oof), and other such lower-quality pizzas. One can learn to like corn and sweet potato sauce on pizzas, but not for her whole life.

Did Sbarro die out? That was the best pizza in Korea for the taste and the price.

You can have Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, and Domino's delivered to just about anywhere in the Seoul metro area. When you get here, ask a Korean friend or employer to set you up with an online account and walk you through the steps. It's easy, even for a beginner, after a few tries.

Sbarro is still there in COEX.

That place would make a KILLING in Itaewon.

You guys know of Pizzaetang? I think it's decent. Its pretty cheap with still managing to still taste like Pizza, unlike some cheap joints that serve you bread with cheese sprinkled on it and call it pizza. Their "regular" toppings like Hawaiian, Pepperoni, and Veggies are less than 10,000 a large and they give you a coupon that you can collect to get free pizzas in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed my COEX Uno's Pizza. So I would say, yes, if you will be going to COEX, stop at Uno's.

sorry fermentation, i''m going to have to disagree with your assessment of pizzaetang. the dough was gummy, the sauce was strange, the pepperoni tasted like it was made with a boot inside, that place makes me want to ralph...

Has anyone tried asking for an American style pizza? There is a Fromage pizza by my place and I get them to make me straight up pizza - no corn, no potato, no kimchi. Just asked them for it and they said no problem.

Uno's is pretty good, but as climber159 said, it'll be expensive. The price is comparable to other western chains here, though (TGIFriday's, Outback). It's a nice change from the other chains though. The menu is a bit different. I've had the deep dish and the flatbread pizzas there. I thought they were very good.

I've always wondered why Sbarro only has one location. It's always busy and seems like it would do well at least in Seoul.

I second the motion that PizzaEtang is brutal. I prefer to pay twice as much and go for Domino's or Pizza Hut. I can almost fall out of my window and hit Domino's, which is nice. If PizzaEtang tastes good to you, though, enjoy spending less on pizza. Smile

Fair enough. Its far from being mind blowingly good, but I think its pretty decent compared to what most Korean pizza joints offer for similar prices. I never tried the pepperoni, but I did like the Hawaiian. It seems like I'm the only one who likes the sauce.

They have one in Shinchon. They have branches all over the city. I think you can only order from them but I don't know because I never actually visited a branch in person.

Am I the only one who thinks Uno has disgusting pizza? I'm not talking about here, but back home in the States? It has always seemed too doughy, greasy, and fatty. I'm definitely more of a crispy thin crust gal (which is great. A lot of restaurants here serve really thin crust, non-greasy pizza).
