I know PS contracts state 'no other jobs' permitted (not sure if these contracts are more geared towards restrictive E2 visas though(?))
Any F visa holders on here doing some corporates/evening P/T jobs on the side.....just out of interest |

Actually the contract states that you can not tach another job without express permission from the prinicpal.
It is my understanding that a prinicapl will grant it for F Visa holders, but refuse it for E visa holders. |

the SMOE contract (well the latest one at least) doesn't say anything about permission from the principal.....just says
Article 17
2. Employee shall not engage in any other job (including part time job) during the Term of Employment set forth under Article 5 thereof |

Looks like that could be a rather important change.
Honestly, they don't want their teachers working at another school, because that would mean Hagwon, and the whole point of putting foreigners in public schools is to kill hagwons and lessen the financial burden of them on parents. |

I'm at a PS in the mornings. Teaching doctors at lunch time. At a Hagwon in the evenings. Doing editing work from home at night and doing testing on the weekends. Everyone knows about my work. The only thing ever said to me was "you are so busy." |

It's not hard. Find an "after-school" job at a PS where you teach 4 hours/day, then plan your supplemental job(s) around that. If you work part-time at Wall Street Institute you can get a job at a PS and easily bring in close to 4 million / month.
As for corporates, you're on your own there. |

This is an interesting thread, I always kinda stayed away from it cause i didnt want to get fired (i have an f class visa)
I really would like to make some extra money this winter since im staying in Korea, and do another winter camp. Do you think I should just do it or seek principal permission? |

Ha.
Ask first. If they say no, then just do it. |

the irony is delicious.... the only kids learning English to any real degree are the ones taking afterschool classes at the school anyway..... the level of the PS elementary school English lessons is laughable.... the irony being that its the elementary kids who should have the MOST English thrown at them.... core language skills are much more easily gained the younger the student is.... the ability to retain such skills degrades with age... |
