Nowadays I purposely give a 10 second stare when I see a Korean walk by wearing a full suit. In THIS weather?! Meanwhile I'm clad in a shorts with sandals and still sweating like a dog!

How tha hell do they do it??

Well, as you well know, now that it's the rainy season, it's 'very cool'.

I swear I think the bus driver had the heating turned on during the heavy rain on Tuesday.

Koreans and temperature perception.........we'll never get it.

They jack the heater up full blast in winter, turn the AC full blast in summer, and constantly comment on the weather at all other times. When they say "Korea has four seasons" I think it's more a cry for help than a boast.

Well Koreans have been living in these conditions for a damn long time. It's obvious really. Same in Thailand around xmas with the locals wearing jeans.

How do they manage to whine, whine, whine about the "cold" everytime the temperature goes down three or four degrees? Like when my classroom is 23 C and they say they're cold. Shocked

you notice that most of foreigners who are from cooler climates are sweating buckets, they're not.
wait another month until you see the suited ones actually breaking a sweat, then you can wonder.

They put social status and appearances before practicality and common sense?

You would be surprised what you can get used to. Last night outside with the wind, I felt a little cool. Today though, I had to turn the air conditioner on...it is pretty hot and I am tired of feeling sticky and sweaty all day.

I think white people in general sweat more. And, you know, when you grow up in a certain climate, you tend to be pretty comfortable in it...(wish there was a less offensive emoticon than the rolly-eyes one!).

Some professions require a suit. Yes, even in "THIS weather". Go to Hong Kong and Singapore, where it's a sweat box, and you will see people wearing suits. Heck, even in New York during the hottest and humid days you will see people wearing suits. Not everyone is an unprofessional English teacher in Korea.

Seconded. You can never please a class of 10 students. There will always be the one that will say that it's still too cold or too hot or too whatever. Just make sure you try to stay conformable and damn the rest
