You guys won't believe this.

Okay so I just resigned my contract, I get 50 weeks of vacation, all I have to do do is teach this 2 week camp coming up.

Now my school wants me to work THREE weeks of camp.

What should I do with this request. I am CLEARLY being treated unfairly.

Advice please.

Stand your ground. A contract is a contract is a contract. Make sure everybody knows the specifics of the contract and book a flight to come back 50 weeks later.

Um Ramen, check my history, not a troll. We call this SARCASM, as an English teacher you would be well advised to look it up.

Well if they are only paying you W1mill for the year and don't provide housing or airfare, I'd refuse to do the extra week. A contract is a contract, and should only be changed if BOTH parties agree Very Happy

in this instance your sarcasm clearly falls flat. I'd know since I'm one of the most sarcastic people I know Cool

the object of the sarcasm, xcustomx (based on the information that's been provided thus far) is more than within his rights and it's his school that has displayed an unwillingness to compromise, not him.

But as I said - there's information related to the matter that we've not been made privy to (perhaps xcustomx hasn't been made privy to it himself)

in many PS situations without seatwarming, 8 weeks of vacation isn't out of the question. 5 weeks in summer minus 2 weeks of camp = 3 weeks
ditto in winter = 3 week
add 2 weeks in Feb = 8 weeks.

do I smell ... ENVY?????

I'll get banned if I say what I want to say to the OP.

So I'll say "very clever".

Am I only the only one who thinks the OP might be lying? 50 weeks of vacation is more than most PS teachers get. In fact, 50 weeks is ALMOST a year. That would leave only two weeks to teach!

Internet...

You're right, we don't believe it.....50 weeks of vacation my azz! Maybe for working 10 years! Even the richest man in the world doesn't get 50 weeks of vacation a year! It's not even April 1st!

You don't get it, do you? If you signed a contract with 50 weeks of vacation, that's what you should get. Nothing less!

Jeez dude, you really come across as one angry bitter individual.

What's the point of posting this in the first place? I mean seriously? What is it that you need to get off your chest?

If you want to vent, then vent, but can't you come up with anything a bit more constructive than this?

Why not just say what you want to say and ease up on the baiting?

I'm seriously wondering about you...

Every ESL teacher in Korea should pay Korean parents one American dollar for the privilege of teaching their Korean children.
