What if your hagwon is closed for a few days while you have your given days off? Can I ask for more days off, since they are closed anyway?
Yes, ask.

You can ask but you likely won't like the answer. In my experience everyone has the same vacation at hagwons so therefore they are closed.

The Koreans only get half of the days the foreigners get off, and some of the foreigners have already gotten an OK (though not easily) for extra days...

You're right, I do wish. I am just feeling pissed off because those others who got extra days off had to fight for it and I only found out now about it.

Since the Koreans only get 2 days off I shouldn't be complaining. And they will probably have to go in on the Saturday too!

if the reason they are closing for two days is partly because you will be gone anyways and that makes it a good time for them to shut it down for a few days it is kind of bad form. On the other hand if the days off were planned ahead and they simply didn't tell you they are closing during that time I might mention something.

I would tell the boss that the school's vacation days can't count as double for your vacation days. Say if you are granted 10 days vacation, and the school closes for 2 days, then you are down to 8. But they can't drop you any more.

That is how I work it at my school. And it is stated as such in our contract.

Well, the b*tch head teacher thing at the main campus doesn't want to talk to me because I screamed at her (about a different issue) in front of all the other teachers, so I don't even want to bother with it. She says we must give them a month's notice. That lady is full of BS, and she's not even the boss. Evil or Very Mad 2 days aren't worth fighting over with that nut job.

I wish we could blacklist PEOPLE in hagwons!
