I'd prefer to get it at a shop. Technomart or what? Any specific shop recommendations? Thanks. |

Figured it out. Completing my own thread, awesome.
Gangnam Station, dudes selling phones right in the station.
Ask for used phones, 중고폰.
Prepaid is 카드폰... 중고카드폰...
You should be able to get one for W30k. There should be no activation fee, but I had to charge it with at least 20k for the first time.
ARC was required. |

I believe you need an ARC. The first thing the phone guy asked me when I told him what I wanted to do was if I had an ARC... maybe other people have gotten one with just their passport but he wanted my ARC so that's what I gave him. The way he was signing me up required info from my ARC... he couldn't figure out my name or something and it took an hour. I think it should take under 30min if the dude you get knows what he's doing/has done it before.
There's a ton of little phone shops in the station, if you're crossing the station North/South or East/West you'll see a bunch. Just ask any shop until you find what you want. I tried 4. 1 didn't have them, 1 had crap phones, 1 had the cheapest at 100k, the final one had some for 30 and 40k.
Then, depending on the kind of phone you got, they will direct you to the right place to go to get it activated and put minutes on it. |

Serves my cheap dumb ass right for buying a used phone.
It recharged before but now it won't. A/S closes at 1 on Saturdays.
Battery has died. Bravo my life.
