I just talked to a person the other night, she said she recommends Japan over the other Asian countries. But I heard the demand for teaching over in the more "preferred" countries are left to the teachers who had done their time in places like Korea (the whole seniority thing, if you know what I mean)
Any insight or feedback on this? I'd prefer to get the country I request. |

I've heard that Japan doesn't take people over 25 (or is it 26?) Because it's supposed to be a youthful cultural exchange type deal (or is this just the JET program)?
From the people I know who work there, teaching English in Japan is something you because you love Japan and not something you do for $$$ or attention like in Korea. You don't make/save nearly as much money there and you start a lot closer to the bottom.
Japan is used to foreigners (which can be a very positive thing for us).
I'd like to teach in Japan too at some point but I know very few people who've done it successfully and the people I do know over there seem to have a very complicated blue collar life. |
