This can't be real. And all you need is North American/Australian citizenship, a college degree, and any TEFL cert.?

7:30-2 workdays
2 months vacation
Single occupant housing PLUS furniture allowance
Roundtrip airfare reimbursed upon arrival (plus for 3 dependents)
Tax free salary
2-5 NETs per school

I mean, I don't know anything about living in Abu Dhabi but this sounds too good to be real.

Edit: Just read on Wikipedia...

"According to the census conducted by the Statistics Center of Abu Dhabi, the population of the emirate was 1,215,218 as of 2002, which included 839,091 males and 376,127 females." What a killer! Laughing

No. You need to be a fully certified teacher back home.

Say, do you think the gender disparity is just an anomaly? Gotta love Islam...

Nothing to do with Islam and everything to do with the gender makeup of overseas foreign workers.

Not to mention the fact that you basically can't have any interaction whatsoever with the local women.

I have a friend working there now, clearing $5000/month tax free. Luckily, I hooked him up with one of the Emirates cabin crew gals I know before he got there.

Ba-da-ba-ba-baaaaaaah, he's lovin' it.

If you're a foreigner in Abu Dhabi your life is exactly the same if not more whoreish and debauched than back in your home country.

Not everywhere is Saudi!

There are more whores per square km in Dubai than most places on Earth! I don't know how many guys in full Arab dress I saw sitting at a bar and chatting up a Philippino waitress.

Abu Dhabi is a great place to live; great food, never rains, bloody awfully hot in the summer but everywhere is air conditioned.

There is no doubt that the male to female ratio in the Middle East is far different than in western countries. There are a number of articles written on the subject and a web search will turn up the facts.

Quote:
In Middle Eastern countries there is a distinct pattern of men outnumbering women. Eight out of the top ten countries in which males outnumber females are located in the Middle East. The reason for this is said to be due to the massive influx of foreign males from South Asia who come to work in these Middle Eastern countries. The extreme case of this is found in the United Arab Emirates where men now outnumber women by a massive 2.14 to 1.

It's a very convenient excuse if these ME countries can chalk up their ratio by saying it's the influx of SE Asian workers but of those countries on the list, not all are experiencing oil wealth.

http://www.socyberty.com/Issues/The-imbalance-of-the-male-to-female-ratio.8138

Quote:
Twenty of the thirty nations with severe imbalances -- which cannot be explained by natural forces, but which are most likely the result of direct, human intervention -- are Muslim. Another indication that there is a connection between this imbalance and Islam is the fact that (according to another chart on the same page in the same booklet) of thirty (30) nations with imbalances which FAVOR women, only ONE (1) is predominantly Muslim or has a significant Muslim minority.

http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2005/08/whats-causing-muslim-nations-to-have.html

The real issue isn't whether the disparity exists but why. There is no doubt that the ME Muslim countries are skewing the statistics because, for example, Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, has no major disparity. Additionally, when we look at the under 12 age group, the male/female ratio is quite normal. It's only in post-pubescent women where the ratio goes askew.
