As many have probably heard, there will be a total solar eclipse tomorrow. (July 22)

Although for some reason I cant get onto the NASA page regarding the event, according to other information I found on the web...it should begin around 9:50am and peak around 11am According to what I read, this will be the longest total eclipse of the century..just a few seconds shy of 7 minutes.

Here is a link to an animation of its projected path. Local time in Korea is 9 hours ahead of UT time.

Enjoy

Thank you!

But we'll only see a partial eclipse, right? At any rate, it's still cool! Coincidences of the Universe! Very Happy

maybe I'm confused as to what total means, but this doesn't seem total to me: http://www.eclipse.org.uk/eclipse/0412009/Seoul_South_Korea_2009Jul21_anim.gif

When I was a kid I remember there was a solar eclipse and the school kept us inside with the curtains closed so that we wouldn't look. Apparently if you look it can be really dangerous for your eyes. Or is that an old wives' tale? I guess you're never supposed to look at the sun anyway.

I've seen a partial and it's still amazing, the birds start chirping and the light is really surreal, also, check out the shadows from the trees and bushes, you'll see hundreds of mini eclipses. It's really cool.

Check a google search for "how to view an eclipse". Personally I will be wearing two pair of sunglasses.

Perfect weather for it in Chuncheon - so cool to see! Glad most of my girls went to check it out on their break.
