The first PS3s produced were very magical, the original SKUs were 40 GBs and had backwards compatibility, Sony removed the feature as cost cutting was necessary to compete with Xbox360.
I have a Japanese made PS3, 40 GB originally (120 GB now) WITH backwards compatibility.
Very magical |

380 000 won for a PS3? I have one I bought for $3 from a one-legged man in an back alley in Thailand!
(Sorry, couldnt resist.)
No, seriously this machine is a gem.
Here are some quotes from the pages of history:
In the beginning:
Sony Computer Entertainment boss Ken Kutaragi has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 will feature backwards compatibility with the PS2 and PSone, ensuring continued support for older software formats in the new hardware. http://www.gamesindustry.biz
and later.
Sony Corp. has stopped offering versions of PlayStation 3 game consoles compatible with games developed for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 http://www.xbitlabs.com
So this machine IS rather..magical!
(Wish I had a way of making the wife see how badly we need it.) |

That's the thing about having things.
Some things, like a PSP, can bring enormous enjoyment into our lives, and can be easily upgraded or replaced when they've outlived their usefulness.
But others, like wives for example, are fun and enjoyable for a while, but can be quite difficult or expensive to upgrade, recycle or dispose of when they become tiresome and redundant.
I recommend to simply stop buying into the obsolete matrimony system and advise leasing or renting rather than owning. I love that I no longer have to ask anyone for permission if I want to get or do something for myself.
Can you spell F-R-E-E-D-O-M!

What a great opportunity for a battle of wits about a completely different and unrelated topic! My answer is : and there are way too many uneducated children in Uganda! |

Interesting...
I was under the impression that the 2 backwards compatible machines offered were the 60gb and the 20gb. Maybe it was different in North America?
Does yours have wifi? I know the 20gb version that was backwards compatible (and had SACD capability) did not include wifi. |

And now I know!
And knowing is half the battle
That was the reason I picked up my 80gb over the 40 last Christmas in Yongsan... Wanted to take it home and not have to set it on top of my PS2, lol... |

Ahhhhh...I messed up in my original posting. I just checked my system, the hard-drive inside is 60gig NOT 40gig. My most sincere apologies for causing the confusion. I do have it right this time 60gig + backwards PS2 compatibiliy. Dumb mistake...sorry folks. Interested buyers are more than welcome to swing by my place and verify this by checking the system settings for themselves.
Anyways, my asking price remains the same despite the biggger hard-drive.
