KEB Overseas Remittance fees

Overseas Remittance
Telegraph fee 5,000 won per remittance
Fees 3,000 won per remittance for amount up to U$5,000
5,000 won per remittance for amount above U$5,000 |
Transferring money back to the states is gonna cost you one way or the other. After reading these boards for a year now, I'm pretty sure the Overseas Remittance is the cheapest way to go. This is why I'm telling you to have a bank account at home ready to transfer to. And the routing info ready to give your K-bank when you set up your account there. |
Why in the world would someone with a college education not have a bank account? That's what I want to know |

I'm guessing I will have to set up an account with KEB for their services?
I'm with Kb and they said sending money to Canada would cost 30000~40000 won. Thanks for the tip.

It's not about having a bank account, it's knowing how to use it.
E, other banks do Overseas Remittance from their ATM machines too. The way I understand it, you have to set it up with an initial wire transfer (paying that huge fee), but then they put the routing info on your account and you can access it yourself from the ATM for the lower fee. Ask your KB bank manager about it next time you go there. They may be one of the other banks that offers this option? |

For mine, I just wired it to a joint account I had with my parents (I got on a bank blacklist for hot checks) and had them cut the check to the loan consolidation company. Before the won crash, I sent $9000 home and wiped out the final balance. What a great feeling. |
