Okay, point taken. I should have said too much sun is bad for the skin. But I concede there are benefits to be had if one gets their sun in moderation. I just don't think it requires much exposure at all to do that. |
It doesn't. It only takes about 10-15 minutes of direct sunlight to produce enough vitamin D in sufficient quantity.
Many Korean women, with their obsessive avoidance of all things sunlight, have been shown in recent years to be at SERIOUS health risk. I wish I had the link to the study that was done last summer that showed just how sick Korean women are making themselves by wearing these masks and full-face visors and long-sleeve shirts in the summer.
It's one thing to avoid deliberate suntanning and to stay out of the sun for long periods of time and wearing sunscreen as a protection against UV, but it's quite another to swathe yourself in masks and clothes and hats and looking like a mummy to avoid every single ray of sunlight. The former is common sense, the latter is screwing around with your health. |

They're actually nothing to do with the sun...
It's to show they're swingers. |

I see the same thing and also walking with umbrella's when the sun is out!
I can understand why...it just looks....dumb.
In the end, none of it matters! |

It makes sense to me. I personally don't like getting sunburned either. My nose/chin/neck gets too much sun sometimes even if I wear a big sombrero style hat.
Yeah it looks ridiculous and crazy, but who cares, it works. There are lots of countries where people wear things over their face for sun protection. In South America lots of people would put thin scarves around their faces, in the Middle-East they obviously cover it all up. I think it's cool.
Sometimes I tie a bandana around my face when i'm bike riding in the US and people look at me like i'm doing something so crazy. Get over it, douchebags. I'm not trying to be stylin' and profilin' all the time. I just do what works. |

My Korean girlfriend wears sunblock all the time. You're actually suppose to wear it when you're outside. I mean, sunlight is good for you, but a small amount of sunblock helps you.
I was listening to NPR the other day and heard an expert say you need to wear sunblock most of the time when you're in the sun to block harmful rays.
And, did you know, those small half-used suntan lotion bottles people don't fully use when they go to the beach should be used in two or three days?
Ah, well.

Sunblock = rubbing nasty disease causing chemicals all over your skin. |
