Is it even possible?

There is a girl I slept with years ago. It was good

We have kept in touch over the years (email, facebook, etc...)

She's one of the only people I've been able to just chat with.

Just been talking with her for a few hours, and it got me thinking, how many times in ones life do you click with another human being.

how many people have you left behind?

There is attraction/lust at first sight. By coincidence, this object of your desire happened to have a personality compatible with yours. No more, no less.

I'm sure there are many women in the world who you could click with, but you might write many of them off because they are not attractive to you.

Such a post like your conjures up deep memories, nostalgia not forgotten. There was a girl, Erin, at my college whom I was friends with for years. However, it ended up being unrequited love. Life goes on. I still think about her, and she writes me emails but I am reluctant to respond. I just want to forget about the whole thing.

I would suggest the philosophical book on love, On Love by Alain Botton de Botton, which my girlfriend of nine months gave me a while back at the beginning of our relationship. I just hope she doesn't meet someone at SNU graduate school this fall when she starts. But then, again, life will go on.

I agree. There's no way that you can know a person well enough right away to know that you love them. You can both be attracted to each other right away, and be compatible, and then eventually come to love each other. However, at first it's just lust and chemistry.

Yes, and then eventually, that feeling of love starts to disapate and other aspects of life come into play and you have a lot more work to do in keeping that relationship afloat. Anyway you slice it, you have your work cut out for you. If that work is easy in the long run, you are one lucky individual. My assumption is this scenario is rare, indeed.

Yeah this girl was pretty much a weekend stand, she was on holiday I was working at a casino one thing led to another. but the fact that we keep in touch. still love talking to her after what is it 4 years? I only knew her for three days. been thinking, there are a few other girls I have "let slip through my fingers"

was engaged once but she is not the girl I think about. The girl from high school that I receive emails and chat with on facebook every now and again, the one from university that I hook up with every time I visit home, my ex that I left to come to korea. Love each of them but...

I totally believe in it. Yes, one can only love someone after you've gotten to know them properly, but what actually occurs - if a partner has that something - is you purposely make your personality fit.

What love at first sight isn't, however, is something mysterious. It is an instinct that the person in question will make the best possible match for your genes.

The young are far more susceptible to LAFS.

It's all about the chemistry and it's either there or it isn't. Of course personalities have to be compatable too. In my case, it's rare but when the chemistry is there, everything else is good too. Only been 2.
No 3 is on their way i hope! Smile

I always found those stories about the men/women that see another woman/man for the first time and think, "That's the person I'm going to marry" quite skeptical.

Not all love is on first sight. The ones I fall for the hardest I usually don't glance at twice when I first see them. She sounds golden, dude, go for it!

The "thunderbolt" hits everyone at least once, I'd guess. Sometimes I think I've been hit more times than I can remember, but a few times were especially strong hits.
