| To the OP - I would be interested in reading a blog by someone in Korea who is trying to lie a vegan lifestyle. Have you thought about doing this type of thing? |

| You veggies and vegans are missing out on some cracking culinary experiences. Korea's best dishes are meat based. |

I'm sure once I get there and live my vegan lifestyle I will be complaining vociferously all over these boards every time I find something untoward in my food. I'm sofa king vegan, I can survive anywhere, even if I have to live on sticks and leaves. |

Maybe, maybe not. I've had some mighty fine vegetarian and vegan dishes here. And I'm not willing to put the shellfish allergy to the test here. |

@geldedgoat
Those are the reasons I avoid fake meats, which as you point out may or may not coincide with the OP's views. I only try and bend everyone to my way of thinking to make the world a better place, yo.
@CentralCali
Yes, and boy is it difficult. Hardly anyone is worthy of my money! It took me an hour yesterday to buy groceries as the ajumma on the market stall refused to take my standard 2-page questionnaire, and when I finally persuaded her it turned out she was a GNP supporter so I had to find another place. I should really compile a list of all the proper-thinking businesses in Seoul and make it a FAQ on here so people know where to go.
@sqrlnutz123 (OP)
Almost forgot! The Seoul Veggie Club is a great resource (they actually have a potluck meeting tomorrow lunchtime, if you read this in time) - you can find them on Facebook or they have an infrequently-updated blog at seoulveggieclub.wordpress.com. |

Eileen, there's a difference between mindless trolling and using humour to deflect arguments I've heard a thousand times before. I've answered the OP's question(s); the challenges that some other posters have offered really aren't worth my time to discuss. The OP can make his/her own decisions about what and where to eat; we're just providing the information.
And really, after everything we've done for ARK together do you honestly think I'd troll a thread about veganism? |

Hi, friends~!
We'll have potluck party in Seonyudo park.
This place is in the middle of Han river.
It's famous for unique garden and artifacts
so that you can take great picture here.
And you can also enjoy cool river breeze.
(Personally I like 구름다리'cloud bridge' more than everything~!)
How to go: Line 2 Dangsan station exit 1.
And than take bus 5714. It takes only one stop.
(but there are many buses go to Seonyudo.)
We'll meet 1pm at exit 1 Dangsan station.
If you arrive there late, take bus 5714
and get off Seonyudo station.
You'll see a a pedestrian bridge on your left.
Go up the stairs, you'll see a ternal which
is decorated ivy on your left.
Than go straight along the bridge.
You'll meet arch type bridge(its name: Seonyu bridge, and its nick name is 구름다리)
And after 2~3 mins, there show up stairs on your right, and entrance of the park.
Call me at the entrance. I'll see you off.
caution: You can't bring bycicle, inline skate.
The bridge is quite long. So it would be better to prepare long walk. (:

One restaurant that's Vegan that I've been to:
http://www.lovinghut.kr/kr/
It is doable to be "vegan" in Korea, although you have to realize that even things like kimchi are made with sauces (I think fish, right?). They have vegan food you can buy there (to cook at home), and it isn't that expensive. In fact, it's one of the cheapest places around.
Good luck!  |

| The kimchi at Loving Hut doesn't have fish sauce. It's a vegan item. |

I think everything at Loving Hut is vegan. I meant in general, you have to be careful of things you might not realize have meat or fish ingredients--like kimchi. |

^ This is the idiot I caught on to right away, which is why I didn't bother responding to the thread when it first appeared.

Thanks for the link. Their Sinchon location must be invisible, though ... I was in the area looking for it today and couldn't find it. |

From the main road, as you face Yonsei University and the railway bridge, it's on your left just after Starbucks (opposite the big church). It's not very easy to see as the white decor kind of blends into the surrounding concrete.
