Why can't he settle his differences like an adult instead of making juvenile 14 year old videos about his conflicts and showing over the internet?
I know that the hagwon owner violated his contract in severe ways. And I agree he should go to the labor board involved and get it resolved. However, he's taking it too personally and is attacking the boss. Calling him " a bad man". But obviously this FT could use some tact or charm. The FT acts childish when his boss was initially trying to be civil about it.
http://www.youtube.com/user/EnglishChannelJL#play/uploads/1/ZjixN-Askxs
Listen to the boss. He clearly tries to explain to him that they can't afford him, the FT responds "So in English what does that mean?" It's pretty obvious what he means. The FT is being immature about this.
The boss even offers to find him a new job. Then the FT raises his voice, get's angry and puts him on the defensive. "Oh I can find my own job". Completely ungrateful during the entire video. The boss is losing money and trying to resolve it by talking through the problems and finding solutions, the FT is just going bonkers and emotionally spazzing all over the place. "I'm a teacher, I've been 5 years, did you know I have a teaching degree?"
And just something to ponder more about this guy more, I'd just like to share this:
Quote: |
In this video Mr. Park tries to explain how he can brake the contract and I can't. |
And then he says:
Quote: |
In my current position I have written review tests and edited textbooks |
Not very high and mighty to correct other people's English when he even makes mistakes. Real mature to make fun of someone's L2 language.
Also watch the videos. His voice is condescending and talks to him like a child.
And something that really bothers me, he goes on and says "I have a teaching certificate, and I have five years experience" (http://www.youtube.com/user/EnglishChannelJL#play/uploads/2/PrPPjkM3Na4)
And... that makes him awsome? Look at how arrogant this guy is,
Quote: |
I have 5 years teaching experience in Korea, ranging from beginner to advanced, from kindergarten to adult professionals. In my current position I have written review tests and edited textbooks. In the past I have taught business English, interview preparation, essay writing and also a bit of TOEFL. In other words, I have a great range of teaching experiences. I am reliable, professional and personable. I am liked and respected by my students, but most importantly I get results. I push my students to succeed and encourage them every step of the way. To put it plainly, I am a very good teacher. |
Know what it sounds like to me? I have a wide range of jobs because I can't hold down one. Also, I believe working 5 years makes me a veteran and highly qualified and almighty. In addition, a TOEFL makes me godlike. I'm a good teacher...
I remember reading a quote about someone who was considered a great teacher by others. He said something along the lines of "I'm not a great teacher, I just have great students. And it's dangerous to think of myself as a good teacher, thinking that way means I'm taking away achievement of my students, who are the real winners."
THAT'S what a REAL good teacher would say.
I can't stand him. I hated watching these videos. |

With Goku that is.
With classic acts like what that guy did, is it any wonder why Koreans hold low opinions of so many of us?
The Korean owner was honest and upfront about the situation and got
nothing but a condescending attitude in return. And not being willing
to share a living space [a roof that is being provided] for a mere 38 days clearly shows what an ungrateful [bleep] that guy is. I have
had Koreans offer space in their own HOMES before when I've been in
a bind. |

Although the tone of the poster sounded condescending at times, the manager's demands for him to share his room, breaking the contract.. and the fact that he claims he IS the government... was unfortunately typical. |

I'm sure the hakwon owner is partially to blame but after watching Video 9, I had a worse impression of the FT. If anything, it's a good example of how not to handle a situation. |

Great videos. And yeah, kick and scream when the FT breaks the contract, but when the boss does it, he's being "honest and straightforward." |

Goku, I understand your points, but how do you think you would have handled this situation? The hagwon owner just makes stuff up "I call the labor office everyday" "I am the government" "blah blah blah". |
