I'm trying to get from Tokyo to Beijing as cheaply as possible. I've seen return flights for about 600USD. I've also considered taking the ferry to Busan, get to Incheon, then take the ferry to China.

Anyone know of any regular cheap flights from Tokyo to Beijing or another Japanese to Chinese connection?

thanks in advance for any help!

Might be a lot easier to just fly from Tokyo to Incheon rather than Tokyo->Fukuoka->Busan->Seoul->Incheon. I have taken the ferry from Incheon to Dalian, not too bad and had a four bed room to myself. I think there is a high speed train that connects Beijing to Tianjin.

thanks for the ferry info and idea Oskinny. The best way I could find to do it was fly from here (Busan) 1-way to Tokyo and take the ferry from Fukuoka back to Busan, then take the 2nd class bus to Seoul. This way I don't have to spend a day of the JRpass going back to Tokyo.

My sister just went from Japan to China.

She flew Cebu Pacific (which she said was great) to the phillipines and then transfered to China.

If time isn't a big issue, I think she flew into Shanghai (for maybe 200 dollars) and then just took the train from shanghai to beijing.

She had fun, and saved tons of money.

I checked Cebu's website, no service to Japan.

It seems the best thing is to fly one way to Tokyo, travel Japan, and take the ferry from Fukuoka to Korea. This way, I don't have to use up a day on the rail pass going back to Tokyo and don't have to be anywhere on any set date (if I find something cool, no rush, if it sucks, I can leave). From Korea, I'll take the ferry to the PRC or fly.

all in all, it'll probably still cost about $500 to get from Korea to Japan, back to Korea, then to China. A flight, a ferry, a train/ bus, and another ferry/ flight.

but check these sites.

or call one of the airlines and ask about the Asia Airpass.
