I saw the ipod touch 2nd generation for 379,000 won in the apple store in Seoul and I saw the same model for 330,000 in Gangbeon technomart. Does anyone know why there is such a big price difference? Is Gangbeon a safe place to shop in terms of getting after sales service?

I am guessing the cheaper one was not 2nd generation or it was used.

Sometimes sellers at TM sell illegal imports, but do the math. I new I-pod Touch from overseas really that much cheaper? Look at the box and machine closely to see where it's actually from.

I know there was about a 50,000 won difference between prices here and prices in the USA -- at least.

Costco has the cheapest iPod Touch 2g's.

The 32gb is available for w550,000 at Yangjae Costco.

The same model costs w659,000 from the Korean Apple Store.

A difference of over w100,000!!!!

Explain me that one!

No need to explain... just buy it.

Or wait. Want to get one, so maybe I should wait for the newer one coming... if it does.

What are they going for at Costco? Cheaper than at the I-pod store?

I called and got the answer.

Costco 8gb I-pod touch is 350,000 won.

Not sure if it's new generation or not.

Well, I just broke down and bought one at Costco.

Didn't come with the 3.0 software, but it was just $10 to download. So both places are about the same on the 8gb, anyway, because the Apple store came with 3.0 software.

I remember when I got my first gen 8gig costco had them for 308,000. Still ended up getting it from an apple store though (330,000) 'cause costco is such a headache.

DON'T BUY THE SOFTWARE!!!!

All you gotta do is download the 3.0 from a torrent, and shift-click "restore" in iTunes, and it'll ask you where the restore file is. Point it to the 3.0 software you downloaded off the internet.

You get upgraded to 3.0 without wasting $10.

I bought my 32gig 2nd gen iPod touch back in January for 440,000 at technomart. I'm pretty sure it was an illegal import, as they were willing to haggle. Department stores and authorized retailers in Korea sell it for 489,000, as far as I know.
