|
|
Saw a post about casinos, so thought I'd add my question. I'll be staying at a hotel with a casino next week ~ but never ventured into one in my
life. Would like to try it out, but I have NO clue about casino protocol.
Would like to try the slots or the roulette wheel. I'll be with Korean friends, but they can't enter the casino.
Tips? Advice?
Many thanks! |

avoid slots.
roulette is really easy for newbies. just play colours or evens/odds until you get more comfortable with it. |

Two things I learned watching Casino Diaries: Be happy even if you're losing, grumps never earn any perks. Only bet big when the boss is watching. |

Do yourself a favor and dont go. I have seen the downward spiral into degenerate gambling too many times. Casinos are a scam. If you must gamble play poker at home with your friends and dont forget to advertise the game on Facebook. |

Roulette is only marginally better than the slots. Play blackjack. |

For a casino newbie or anyone for that matter, this is the best piece of advice. |

First thing don't go in thinking you are going to win anything, go in with what you are prepared to lose and don't spend anything else, don't chase money.
Be polite do the dealers and staff, if you have any questions ask nicely even if you are losing. With blackjack if you are joining an existing game it is normally polite to ask the other players. Don't play with your chips. Don't get too drunk. If you want to back bet ask first
Read up on the games you want to play first. Blackjack there is a basic strategy which if you stray from it can piss the other players off. Stay away from baccarat unless you know what you are doing it can be quite hard to know what the hell is going on.
The biggest thing is don't get pissed off if you lose
(I used to work in casinos) |

Exactly.
I have seen people who won a lucky thousand dollars lose that much and waay more in half the time because they got greedy/over excited. |

True- especially these "foreigner only" casinos. Think about that aspect and ask yourself if you want to risk your money in there. |

I haven't been in a casino in K-land myself, but my buddy told me that all the staff speak English - it stands to reason as only waegoogins are allowed in. Anyway, I've worked in a couple of casinos myself and when people wanted to know how to play a game they were free to ask. Either wander over to a table where nobody else is playing and speak to that dealer, or, there may be an information desk where someone can inform you about the rules, strategies etc. But like someone else mentioned, have a scan on the Internet before you go in and learn the basic rules. Roulette is probably the easiest game to begin with, and you will get lots of playing chips for your money so it's a cheap(ish) way to gain confidence and feel comfortable.
Good luck! |

If it is the casino at COEX then you will find plenty of leaflets explaining the games. Fond memories of mates poring over the instructions as they dither over a 1 chip bet, to the annoyance of the 'serious' gamblers
You can get a membership card and get points back for the cash u spend.
Don't forget your ID, as they are strict about checking.
Drinks are free and strong for a reason hehehhe
Take advantage of the free food in light of the sentence above
I only ever spend 10.000 won and sometimes I double it. Good night out with free drinks. (I only play roulette).
Enjoy |

As someone who currently works in a casino, the best way to earn comps is to buy in for a lot and spend a lot per hand. Slots earn faster than table games.
It's all tracked by computer and kept at a certain percentage of what you bet.
Betting more when the boss is watching means nothing anymore, it might have worked 5-10 years ago, but with MBAs running these things now, it's a bit more scientific. |

my best advice is to not go.
Poker has a 10% rake making me not want to bother. |
