|

I'm looking to do a visa run soon, and am looking for some pointers.
1)What kinds of costs for transport did you find? For the overnight stay? For the visa itself?
2) Is it necessary to get them sealed transcripts, since I have had visas here before? I spotted that requirement on this page: http://www.planetesl.com/information/visarun_japan.html
3) Any other random points of advice?
My school's coordinator is new to her job, and hence is not familiar with this process. So, I'm doing a little research to find out what I can. |

Contact Kangsan Travel in Jangsan (Haeundae New Town) and tell them you need the 'Visa Run Package'. It includes the ferry (return) and a night at the Central Hotel in Fukuoka. Instructions on how to get to the ferry terminal in Busan, the Central Hotel and Korean Consulate in Fukuoka included.
Yes, you need everything in hand including sealed transcripts, etc when you go. I think the fee for the visa is 5000 or 6000 yen, cant remember exactly. |

Cool, thanks. Very helpful.
I found this, also. http://wiki.galbijim.com/Visa_run
Next question, how does one go about getting their criminal records?
As far as I can tell, I'll need:
1) Sealed Transcripts (From both university and grad school? Or only form my final degree?)
2) Criminal Records (Only my most impressive records, or petty stuff, too?)
3) Medical Records (Would an examination from a Korean doctor suffice?)
I'll continue to research these points, meanwhile. |

You have to get your visa approval before you go, that means you have to register with immigration in Busan, give them all your documents and then they will give you a number to take to the embassy in Japan.
Make sure you have your Korean address, phone number etc. when you go. |

Burndog, the package cost me 215000 won but that was a few years ago. I would say it wouldn't be more than 250000 won now. It may be on the above travel agents website. |

Also, it's not a bad idea to make sure you have enough yen before you even leave Busan. I had a miserable 24 hours because I did not have enough and every exchange place I went to in Fukouka was closed for the night. The hotel manager finally changed some for me, but he was not too happy about it. |

Here's what's up.
1) I sent off for my transcripts yesterday, and read today that the original degree (my MA) is sufficient. Is this true?
2) How and where did you get your criminal record check? I've worked for EPIK for the last two years, and took a few months off before coming back for the job search. Does this last fact alter where I'd get my record check? |
