I'm going through a recruiter named Cindy Park from an agency called Good English, and she has set me up with a contract from a school called Seoul EIS. I've already sent all my documents over and she has sent them to the school for inspection.

The more I think about it though, the more I realize I probably shouldn't have signed a contract when I've never heard anything about this school. Does anyone have any experience with this place, or have you heard anything about it? Supposedly it's located in Seoul, near Balsan station, though I don't even know how far away that is from the city.

I'm wondering what my options would be if I decide to back out - since I've already signed the contract, would that affect my chances of getting a different job in Seoul if I decide to renege?

Thanks for any help yall.

Can't give too much advice on the backing out part...

You haven't finalized your Visa, so I think you'd be fine backing out now. Once you've processed the Visa, you'd have to get the school to release you from it.

Some images based on the subway station you mentioned:

Have you already finalized it?

I've been talking to the same recruiter and I'm losing patience with her. She's suggested Wonderland and KNC Hyunjae to me, both of which have grown strong reputations among Korea's blacklisted Hagwons.

I can't find much information about EIS, however. Perhaps that's a good sign?

you're being placed in a good area of seoul, convenient to many of the fun spots (hongdae, itaewon, yongsan electronics area)... have you talked to the current foreign teacher or asked for their email? that's a MUST before you hop on the plane.

And talk to more than one foreign teacher at the school. Some shady schools will pay an instructor more and treat them better if they will act as a propaganda agent for it.

If they won't give you more than 1 person to contact at the school, it isn't a good sign...

Thanks for all the info guys. I'll def try to get in touch with a foreign teacher then. And yeah, I haven't been able to find anything about EIS either, so I'll take a glass-half-full perspective and assume that it isn't some kind of torture dungeon.

Hi, I know the name Cindy Park (although it is probably a common name) and she does some recruiting for CIS (Canada International School). If that is the case, it all depends on the location.
