I thought this was a pretty great festival. The venue was well chosen and very scenic. The food was very reasonably priced and there was a nice variety. No price gouging on anything I saw. A chun for a bottle of water, 3 for a beer, 5 for a mixed drink, all fair prices. I thought the performances in general were pretty good. I wish Weezer played longer but they played to the Korean crowd pretty well. Basement Jaxx surprised me with what was a great set. (I enjoyed the Koreans chanting "Weeja! Weeja!") Oasis was a lot of fun, I think it was Liam who said, "I dunno the area. I dunno the name of the festival. You've all been the bullocks. Live forever." I really enjoyed Patti Smith's set as well. She really showed she has some gas left in the tank. The DJ at night were pretty good too, I really liked Saturday nights duo.
I had only a few minor irritations, if you weren't camping at the venue you would have a long walk to get in as they didn't let vehicles near the venue. It was a half hour walk in each day from the spot where they would drop you off at. I didn't like how they set up barricades on Sunday making it difficult to move forward towards the stage. I would have liked a bathroom a little closer to the stage. All real minor things that really didn't detract too much from the overall experience. I highly recommend it for next year.

yeah, I agree, it was cool. I was only there for the Sunday afternoon, but what I saw made me smile. Heaps of food choices for reasonable prices, cold beer, lots of pretty trees and thick, green grass for walking and sitting on, friendly folks with an appropriate amount of freakiness, it ruled.

Did anyone go to Pentaport this year? It would be interesting to hear a comparison. Or are they on different weekends?

Is *that* what Liam said?! I couldn't quite catch it, except for the "you've been the bollocks" bit. And weren't his first words "alright, let's be 'avin ya then"? The way he mucked around with the tambourine was a crack-up too.

I only went to see Oasis, so to catch Patti Smith and Jet was a real bonus.

For a first year festival, I thought they did a great job. My biggest problem on the day was the lines for food. I would have bought more of my own had I known I would have to queue for so long. But alcohol was cheap and no queues so a liquid diet sufficed!! Beautiful setting and Basement Jaxx and Oasis were insane!! Of course I would have preferred Oasis play on Saturday night to avoid the state I arrived at school on Monday, but hey, you cant have everything!!

I went to Pentaport (Saturday only). There were two big stages, the main stage was mostly famous Korean bands, and the smaller stage was Hongdae-famous bands. I was there all day but there was way too much time in between the bands, so I basically only saw 99 Anger, Kingston Rudieska, the horrible Korean metal band that played before Deftones, and Deftones.

They really should have called it the Deftones Rock Festival, because it was all about them. They played an AWESOME, energetic, 90-minute set, with basically all their good songs, a bunch off their old albums, Adrenaline and Around the Fur. They did not disappoint. They didn't play an encore, but there were really no songs left for them to play.

I wanted to go to Jisan but the bands I wanted to see were all on Friday and I couldn't make it there after work. Plus my Pentaport ticket was FREE.99!

It wasn't so bad if you went over by the second stage or during a band. I do know my friend spent 40 minutes waiting for a kebab, madness. The drinks were a great value, even had free beer for you if you entered the chugging contest at the back Wa Bar. Saturday night turned out to be great craic with Basement Jaxx and Disel Boy both being quite excellent.

That's funny about the Oasis comments - do they think it's still the 90s when they were popular enough to be smug?

Looks like Jisan must have destroyed Pentaport...Pentaport seemed like it was 99% Korean bands that you could see in Hongdae for a man won or two.

Too bad there'll never be a Fuji rock fest in Korea...

I was there for all 3 nights. I agree with the original poster. I loved the location and the general vibe of the festival. Very chill and hippie. I didn't expect that in Korea.

There are videos on youtube- amateur videos and many cameras were held by people who were drunk or stoned and who yelled "Allllll Riiiiiggghhhhttttt" for every song by every band ( Laughing ). I posted one of Weezer on the youtube thread,

I thought the whole thing was terrific. I agree about the food thing though, the queues were horrendous, and it was one queue for one type of food, some of which was a bit revolting. The other problem was you couldnt use cash. I agree with not using it for drinks, but for food, it was a problem. Particularly as the end result for many was indeed a liquid diet!
So again a liquid diet sufficed...............

I'll hang around for food, but if you make me wait for my beer, I get upset.
