Hello,
One of my plans before coming to Korea was to join a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club that I had found on the internet. I'm out of my school at 8:30 which doesn't leave enough time to bus from Wondang to Bupyeong for the 9 o'clock class. Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays have some classes at 11 pm but the bus I'd be taking back from there stops running at 10:45.
So I have a couple options to go about this. Action Reaction has an open mat on Saturdays from 2 to 7. I can try to fit in as much grappling in at that time and hope it leaves me satisfied. That'll kill many opportunities to travel and explore since it essentially burns a day but I'm not entirely opposed to that idea.
Next is to find a judo school close to my location in Wondang. Judo is similar to brazilian jiu jitsu and so I definitely wouldn't mind doing it as an alternative but I'm really uninformed as to where a local judo school would be and if they would have any English speaking people as teachers or at the least classmates.
Finally, I could invest in a motorbike and drive to the school everyday. This is obviously the most expensive option but not entirely unfeasible since I really don't spend all that much money. A Korean co-worker of mine said I could probably get a bike (used) for 700,000 won. I'm not sure how cold Incheon gets during winter but we're pretty far North so that could be a problem.
Anyway, I was wondering what you more experienced teachers would suggest I do. |

Get a licence if you want a bike. A friend got pinged a couple of weeks back riding a registered and insured 50cc that she though didn't need one. There's loads of bike info in the sticky up top. I got one from the boards here, but Craigslist has one or two a day these days and passo.co.kr was good till it got riddled with worms or trojans or what ever. 700,000 could get you a Magma/Mirage/Daystar cruiser or a scooter. I went for a Daystar as Daelim is spoken of a little more highly by forum guys and the Magmas are a bit old these days. If you can find a Forte (sort of a souped up 125 scooter) in your range, they're meant to be great. |

Do you live in Wondang-dong in Incheon, Seo-gu?
Being that close to Gimpo and Gumdan I would check those areas out for a BrazilJJ club or MMA place. Wondang is pretty much dead. |

Yes, thats where I live.
The list of BJJ places I found were on www.bjj-asia.com and most places are within Seoul. I'll have to check over the list again (I'm about to go do a class in 5 minutes) to see if there are any in those areas. |
