After 9 months, my GF has a fever blister on her mouth. She's never had it before while I've been with her. I've never had it before, and have never shown symptoms of it in my entire life. But hell, maybe now I have it from her already.

So what do I do besides not kiss her?

Rub a little kimchee on it. It will go away in no time.

Ridiculous guys...fever blisters are a form of the herpes simplex virus that a large part of the world's population carries. There are many factors contributing to outbreaks and they usually go away after a week or so. You, OP, may have given it to her and just have the genetics that repress the virus from every coming to the surface. I usually get one maybe once every two years or so and it usually coincides with some incredibly stressful event. If you don't want to kiss her for a week or so, she should understand that...I wouldn't want to kiss people either because they hurt. One thing that you may or may not be able to buy in Korea is called L-Lysine, which is an amino acid that is believed to limit or prevent fever blisters. If you can buy it in Korea it might cost an arm and a leg like most of their other vitamins, but a Yak might have some on hand for cheap. With that being said I do remember seeing some seriously raging ones on some of the teachers at my old PS....I don't know if there's a genetic vulnerability among Koreans or not.

Spend some quality time with her. Give her a massage.

Fever blisters are caused by a herpes virus, but outbreaks are usually triggered by stress.

Not to be crude or anything, but it's probably best if the missus stays off her knees for a while. Just so you know.

i cant fnd the source, but fever blisters r uncommonly high in koreans. if i recall correctly, they are the hepres simplex A or 1 virus. meaning, they r defined by severity, not location. so, u can get a "fever blister" on ur wang area, and it is herpes, but not simplex B or 2, thats the hardcore kind.

as stated above, about 80% of the world population has the A or 1 simplex. some people will never show symptoms. others have it a lot worse. best thing is to take the L-Lysine drug to prevent. when u or if u, feel one coming (u'll know, it has a very distinctive "tight" or "sore" feeling around the mouth that will be red) start drowning that thing in TEA TREE OIL. 3 or 4 times a day and once again before bed. a day or two of that (as soon as u feel it) can keep one from coming to the surface.

they can be transmitted even when she isnt showing signs. all though, the chances r much lower. i had a similar scare a few month back. a week after i was with this k-girl, she got one. i went to get an std check, and it said i was clear. months later, i met another girl. after 10-12 days of seeing her last, i got that feeling around my mouth. i fought it with tea tree oil and that seemed to have stopped it. point is... this girl wasnt showing anything and 10-12 days is the time that something will show up, if u got the virus. so i need to get another check up when i get back to korea to make sure.

outbreaks can be cause by stress, other illness, and extreme in temperatures like sunburn. just keep melow about it, worrying will only make it worse. keep a few bottles of tea tree oil around (u can get it at body shop) and learn to cope. remember, ur not alone. 80% of the world is with u.

the over the counter medicine that is used here is Acyclovair. It is only about 3000 won. Works in 2-3 days. Dries up the sores quickly.

Oral Herpes are a very common thing as others have mentioned. I wouldn't worry about it.

L-lysine is an amino acid, not a prescription or OTC drug. It is true that taking this (in what doses? dunno--google it) will help prevent outbreaks.

Bah.. she could have gotten that from kissing grandma when she was a baby. It's nothing... very common. Usually brought on by stress, as was mentioned.

If you're really worried about it, you can put a garbage bag over her head when you kiss her. Just be sure to take it off afterward, or she may die from asphyxiation.

Or by daddy kissing prostitutes. I mean, come on. I agree mostly because I've seen so many kids with them (giant ones), but when I ask these kids where they went for summer vacation: Pattaya, Guam, Saipan. Lulz.

I get a tube of Abreva from the US. I never use it all before it expires.
In the US it is the only over the counter anti-viral.

I don't know if it is available in Korea.
