Anyone advise me on where the best tourneys and cash games are in Seoul ?
Not looking for major buy ins (maybe around 50/60 dollar mark whatever that is in won for touneys ) and maybe some cash games , 1-2 dollar no limit games.
Are there many fish around these games, I always have this image in my head of Asians being mad gambler types(use to work in a casino). I would guess the games can be pretty heavy ? |

As an experienced player, pit dealer and poker dealer, I can tell you that the military guys are about as donkey as they get. |

3 casinos in Seoul with poker rooms these days. Both 7 Luck locations (COEX and Hilton near Seoul Station) and Walker Hill (near Gangbyeon station.)
The rake is very high. 10% up to W15,000 for 1/2 NL games and 10% up to W20,000 for anything bigger.
1/2 (W1000/2000) is the most common game and runs every night at each location. In general the game plays pretty deep with average starting stacks of W300,000. Pre-flop plays a little different than in North America. Standard opening raise is W15,000-20,000 and larger raises will often get multiple callers. My advice for the cash games is buy in the maximum (500).
There are frequent 200 + 20 tourneys but rarely anything less than that. |

Wait, do you mean 10% of up to 15k as in the rake can get to 15k or as in 10% of 15k.
One interpretation makes it cheap, the other crazy expensive. |

There is an unbelievable amount of money in the Seoul casinos. Baccarat and blackjack players tend to supplement the poker games fairly well and it is a treat when they sit down and fire off 1.5 million in a couple hours. However, the games are usually filled with experienced players. This isn't to say that the games aren't loose/weak but most people know what they are doing.
Many older Korean and Japanese men tend to get attached to their big starting hands (AK, QQ etc.) and have a tendency to call down just to see your hand. |

Your failure to understand this makes me doubt your claims to have been a dealer. |

no, the way you meant it tells me YOU don't know what you are talking about
where I work it is 10% up to $40 on a 1/2 2/5
that means $4 max, not $40
what you are telling me is that people are getting raped to play, might as well host a private gave and take your own reduced rake |

This is true.
I guess we use different terminology - I thought usually x% up to $y means x% of a pot up to a maximum of a set amount of $y. ie. the rake can never exceed amount $y. |

It's all good, that's why I asked for clarification.
If I'm not too rusty, I might deal a game or two sometime. |

Everyone posting in this thread will now be framed for running a casino and test positive for drugs regardless if any are in your system or not. Expect KBS to show up at your place of work interviewing people you never met claiming to be your co-teachers. |
