My recruiter called me the other day when I was on vacation and told me that the Daegu Metropolitan Office has overbooked 12 teachers.

I've been reassigned to Daejeon.

It normally wouldn't be a big deal, except that my Korean family lives in Daegu and I was one of the first people to apply when EPIK started taking applications. Perhaps they eliminated the 12 by random lottery?

Well, the KTX runs from Daejeon to Daegu, so at least there's that.

I'd be a lot more pessimistic about it and think they re-assigned you because they felt they could ie you have family in Korea so are coming anyways so it's unlikely you'd be a no-show.

Err, this is a bureaucracy we're talking about. I highly doubt that they'd look into individual cases that closely.

I've been to Daejeon....I thought it looked like a pretty cool place to live. They have their own metro system and there's a couple of Unis there that have a lot of exchange students from Europe so there's stuff to see and people to meet.
