Driving drunk is terrible regardless and it's bad enough to do it in your own country, but to do it in a foreign country is really ballsy.

http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2908170

Quote:
The bodies of a 26-year-old man, Kim Min-seok, and his 27-year-old female companion, An Gyeong-hwa, were found inside a sedan submerged in an irrigation channel off a road in the southwest part of the New South Wales state, according to the Korean Consulate General in Sydney.

Police said the two had been drinking for several hours with other South Koreans on July 22 at a farmhouse nearby before leaving the party around 3 a.m. Police said they left behind their passports, mobile phones and wallets.
...

Before Kim and An, a 25-year-old man committed suicide on July 22 in Sydney, and a 23-year-old woman was killed in Queensland on the same day while riding in the passenger seat of a car driven by a drunk Korean driver that crashed into a roadside tree.

Anybody willing to admit they've done it here? I would never in a thousand years.

Interesting story. The fact they left their wallets, cell phones, and passports at the party, and then drove into an irrigation canal...Suicide?

When I was younger, I used to work at an Italian wedding hall. Needless to say there were nights when I was definitely not fit to drive. I remember driving home and everything being blurred.

Thinking back on it now gives me shivers. I could have killed myself or others, or spent time in prison. I would have to say that's the stupidest thing I've ever done, and I would never ever do it again. I think it was a matter of the stupidity and feeling of insurmountability combined with the alcohol made me feel like I could handle it.

However, I just got lucky. So stupid.

Koreans coming to Australia to work as prostitutes, drink driving and risking the lives of others. Not to mention all the "unqualified" students with fake exam results.
No wonder the Australian media demonizes these people.
Wait a minute they don't!

Sad. Maybe they were just going out to get something and left their personal belongings at the farmhouse because they were planning on going back.

I have never, and never will drink and drive.

the double standards are sometimes insane...

can anyone imagine what would happen if the western media treated koreans as they treat westerners?

A couple days ago 14 Koreans were injured in Australia in a bus crash. Indications are that the driver fell asleep.

Actually, it's true. BAC is not really the best indicator of impairment. A 200 lb man and a 120 lb woman with similar levels of BAC will often show very different levels of impairment.

2-3 drinks is significant for some people; for others it isn't.

I get away with it because my wife knows the police. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Here in the Socialist Republic of California you can actually get nailed for drunk driving if you are caught sleeping in your car after a night of drinking. Even if the keys are not in the ignition you can still get busted!

Between drunk driving, street racing, and overall stupidity I have probably used up several of my nine lives. Nowadays I have a one drink policy if I am driving. Before going into a bar I will occasionally smoke some 'legal on a state level medical marijuana' and only have one cocktail once inside. In about two hours I am good to go and sharp as a tack. Pot doesn't linger as long as booze.

Drinking and driving in a foreign country is simply beyond stupid. In fact, I think getting fallen down, stupidly drunk in a foreign country is not a good idea either.

I've never driven drunk and never intend to! Drunk driving is one of the stupidest things you can do, IMO. Granted, everyone makes mistakes.

Beer does not mix well with cornflakes. Milk is much better.
