so I'm in the States, planning on returning to the K in a few weeks. my old PS2 is looking a little ghetto these days, so I'm thinking of finally going next gen.
from what I understand, Xbox is fairly non-regional, so it wouldn't matter if I bought one here or in Korea. is this true? also, if I chose not to mod it so I could use Xbox Live, would it be difficult to find non-modded games in English, at Yongsan or somewhere? specifically GTA IV. or would I be better of just buying a few Xbox games in the US, and then buying the unit in Korea (so I wouldn't have to schlep it over). finally, does Xbox Live work for streaming Netflix in Korea, or would I be locked out of that due to a Korean IP address? |

A lot of the games are region free, but if you're a sports fan, EA games are usually region coded, so I wouldn't recommend buying a North American Xbox if you plan on staying here in Korea for a while. Also, buying the North American region games from Korea can be quite expensive. You can get most of the games you want here on a Korean Xbox in English. The only two problems I've had were my copy of Halo 3 had English text but Korean audio, and EA stopped making their NHL games for NTSJ Xboxes after 07.
Don't know about Netflix, but downloading movies and TV here free is still very easy. Netflix may be blocked actually. Xbox Live works just fine here for games and downloadable content though. |
